You record some close-up demo videos of that guy playing it! I must say that the feature presentation video was kind of uninspiring, and the guy playing it live wasn't bad but it wasn't very interesting from a demo point of view.

This thing is ridiculous. To me it's just a really uncomfortable looking keyboard with a sound palette short of that of a stylophone.

I don't think the point was to compare instrumentation, but the compositional qualities, in which case I'd agree they were very influential (to japanese vg music).

As far as I'm concerned, there is already a big bunch of awful chip artists I would never listen to, but so far it hasn't ruined anything for me. Why would it? If you insist there's any ruinin' going on, it's definitely already happened, though.

Ooh back in my days all we had was scroll wheels, and bad posts were all very long because they had a bunch of awfully photoshopped image banners in their signature fields and loading a page took forever.

Only see opinions that you agree with! Never again be confronted by pesky "new ideas"!

Well, isn't that more or less the point of every specialized internet forum? If pictures of hedgehogs do not interest you, although everyone else is fine with them, why not sort them out at your own end?

EDIT: oops dat was on the 1st page.

How does this have anything to do with censorship? I think you've fundamentally misunderstood the word. If this is censorship, then so is not listening to an idiot.

You should make a version with a negated ignore list.

But arps do sound good in 60 Hz! A preference of 50 Hz arps over 60 Hz ones can't have been that universal, can it? The culture around game development in Japan and Europe was entirely different in the mid-80s (and culture in general (still is)), though, and I think it makes sense for traditions and techniques to have evolved in different directions.

Hm, that explains the lack of arps alot of the 8bit video game music.

Not really. Arps are pretty (CPU) cheap. As far as I know, per-tick arpeggios are mostly a European thing for some reason not related to technical limitations.

Maybe you should put the actual question in the thread title so I don't have to click it to find out I don't want to read it.

If you are going to use an emulator for tracking I might as well spam these some more. They come fully assembled, in kits or as bare PCBs: http://devsound.se/products-page/sbu
