yikes Sounds like a great idea! Is this completely open to anyone? Won't there be a limit of how many tracks you can fit on the cartridge?

Well, I think the difference between hardware and software isn't really the sound, it's the process, tools, limitations, challenges, glitches and quirks. Of course I know people sometimes purposely enforce there own limitations in a DAW but it's hardly the same thing as tracking on an actual gameboy, Amiga or C64 etc.

Here's how I played some Sega Genesis / Mega Drive music live recently.

Very nice! Sounds like real game music. Great to hear someone else doing YM2612 music! I also make music in Deflemask and play it live from two Sega Mega Drives. Do you play your music on real hardware too? Looking forward to hearing more!

Looks really cool - I'm also interested to find out what happened to that.

Looks really cool! I hope they use a through-hole 3.5 mm TRS socket in the final design, though! I think the surface mount ones are prone to breaking...

el-bee! I love your work! The music for Aesterozoa is still one of my favourite pieces of softsynth demo music.

Anyway, very happy you're interested in testing with a Launchpad. PM me once you have the other hardware and I'll send you some info on how to hook it up. Thanks!

Well, before fast arpeggios were used musically, I'm sure they were used just as sound effects in games? For example on the Atari 2600.

@rebb: Thanks for the tip!

I'm hoping to start exploring the possibilities of 1-bit music on a TI-82 soon! big_smile

little-scale - Come Back To Me

Hi all, xspheric and I are still working on VGX Live - software features are being added and playback timing made more stable. I'm working on a nice version of the hardware interface, too!

A big thank you to all the beta testers who've been involved, testing the software for us and giving us feedback - it's very much appreciated! heart

See the OP for a video example of using VGX Live as part of a real performance. :]

I released this ambient track four years ago: Electronic Butterflies

It was made in TFM Music Maker and recorded from a Sega Nomad then reverb added. :]

This too: Saccades - Also made in TFM an recorded from a Mega Drive 2.
