Another  For-Trade or for $ to help pay for a Caanoo.

This is a fully built & tested Bliptronome : It's a 64 button Monome clone with 4ADC knobs.
Runs on Win/MAC/Linux.

Here's a video for those who never heard of this:
http://vimeo.com/14044355

This is a hack of my design to make a cheap Monome clone since I couldn't afford a real one at the normal $500-$1000 price.. It's a hack of a music device sold by thinkgeek for $50.. Works with any Monome software and has 4 ADC knobs assignable to anything you want in Max/MSP, Ableton, renoise (duplex), Puredata and other software.

I'm selling this one cheap, because it has an irritating hairline crack at the FTDI port on the side. (see the last picture). It's bonded, and not a structural problem, and I've used it like that for about 6 months. If you're a case modder.. it could be invisible.

I normally sell these as a kit that you solder for $73 + $50 for the Blip, + $40 for the build on my website shop. The instructions are at the bottom of this page...
http://www.straytechnologies.com/resources/

I'll take $150 o.b.o. for this one.. it comes with the FTDI cable & the original Thinkgeek box.
Shipping is about $17 in the US and not worth it to Europe.
Alternatively I'm looking for some handhelds & others for projects if you want to trade or partial..
Caanoo (yeah right), maybe a Wiz
     Wonderswan color or crystal
     NeoGeo pocket or Color
     VL-Tone or VL-10 (not bent)
     .. I'm open to other not-game-boy offers..

Here's a bunch of big pics..

Probably because the only things worth talking about are MML and MOD2PSG (is that it?  I can't quite recall).  And one of those things only does half-assed genesis stuff.

Have you heard Animal-Style's stuff??? not half-assed.
Actually, a forum could be a good way to fix that problem. right?

@Infotoxin:
My first mixer was a SIMA SFX-9. They show up on ebay for under $200 and do Chroma, mixing, and color.
Basic... Made of plastic,  but works for cheap.

@Paris
I've got a dingoo toolchain up and running, but there's no real useful graphics library or documentation. So it's low-level hardware access only for now. Kind of a PITA.

@JYK ...   get that shit on the 8bit visuals wiki Peter started. I feel all alone on there!

Looks very nice indeed. did you get 3 graphics in there? (The separate chunks of your name)
I'm waiting on one, and fear my graphics were a poor choice... hmm

Naaah, trust me... you did good.
You're the first one to use the whole 16x16 block in 2 color. That floppy disk makes patterns I've never seen before!
Let me know when you get it. I noticed shipping to Europe has been a bit quicker since the Holiday.

Also any news on the 25 dollar chip synth you were brainstorming a couple of weeks back? Its a very interesting project and im curious where it goes.

Yeah.. I always have a few balls in the air. I'm still mulling over it, but right now waiting for an FTDI chip to prototype it. Expect 4 or 5 weeks. will be using the YM chip as discussed. Likely usb only in the first version.

Martin Galway's Miami Vice. I read an interview where he basically said it was simple for the rush he was in. Straight forward timing and channel use. and uses the 6581, which is what you need for A_SID.

Let us know how it goes. Be aware that SID timing is wrapped up in the assembly, so you'll really just get a register list from that program.

Hey all,
I spent a few hours last night breaking into the Bliptronic 5000, provided for $43 from Thinkgeek. Reviews are everywhere, but the consensus is.... the synth sucks, and a comparable button-matrix in an enclosure would cost 4 times as much.
So... I've done a little reverse engineering to determine the pinout and control mechanism here:
http://www.straytechnologies.com/bliptr … utton-pcb/

It looks like this will mate up nicely with an arduino to make something in the monome/arduinome family for under $100 with the enclosure.

Drop me an email wil [at] straytechnologies [dot] com if anyone else is working on this.
