Hey there.
My album is out.
You should get it.
It's mostly progressive/rock chiptune, but there is just a little dance, too.
Do it up.

Can NES be slaved to MIDI? I'm guessing NSFs don't work that way.

you can sync anything by ear

I was under the impression that this wasn't really an option because of possible 'hiccups' in timing on old hardware. I haven't experimented or experienced this first hand, but I think I had heard that before.

I'm quite a hardware idiot, so I'm not always sure how to decipher the technical jargon that goes on in some of these threads but, is it possible to sync the tempos of two retro consoles or handhelds? Say, Gameboy to NES or maybe a sega genesis?

I guess I'll have to sum up my point by saying that a well tailored and cared for short EP holds just as much ground as a well tailored and cared for full-length. Not all who release short albums are doing so for lack of passion.

True. But an album that's too short is always better than an album that's too long.

This is so incredibly true.

But, it really doesn't address your point, Dan, so I'll offer you this:
I would be the last person on earth to argue 'Roots'' success and goddamn do I love that album, but I do have to have about 3 different sit-downs to hear the whole thing. So, instead of saying I just wanna listen to it, I say, 'Feels like time to listen to the first six or so tracks' or 'I'll jump in at Blueshift and see how far I get.'

Which, mind you, is absolutely not criticism of the album in any form. Just an example.
And yes, I look VERY forward to the cannonXzef album! I'll probably have to listen in installments though, haha.

Edit: Does this post sound snarky? I don't mean it to. I read it back to myself and thought... Hmmm... Hope that doesn't come off as insulting.

The Solarbear Code.

Shit. My last jam had 13 independent sections, haha. If anything, I can't focus at all! XD

I'm not gonna lie, guys. I just don't want to listen to a 45 minute album! RARELY do I have that much uninterrupted time to listen to music. A nice 15 - 30 minute EP is perfect for people's lifestyles and attention spans, I'd say.
In short, I absolutely intend to have shorter releases, but it's definitely not for lack of effort or restraint.

I can't stress enough the value in learning super basic music theory. Also, try making some very short songs. Like, songs with only 2 parts: a musically tense buildup and a nice melodic release. Do that enough and you'll get a damn good feel for how songs work.
You could also try to do a couple cover songs and see how those are written.
