Topic: Teensy Gameboy Sync Help Needed (13 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)

I have taken the initiative to start little-scale's Teensy project that can be found here: http://little-scale.blogspot.com/2011/0 … or-16.html

I have gathered all the supplies and have all materials needed to start this project (i believe). I have the teensy board (no breadboard), USB-mini B cable, GB sync cable ready for splicing, two different DAW's that can send a MIDI beat clock (FL studio 9, Protools 10), and a gameboy. Now after confidently purchasing all of the supplies that I didn't already have, I am not so confident with the approach/assembly. I have several questions ready for anyone available to help.

How do I go about connecting the sync cable to the Teensy? I see that he has soldered to some sort of object and then has two wires coming from that piece to the Teensy. Is this necessary? Am I able to solder the sync cable straight to the Teensy?

Is Teensy_GB_sync.hex the only program I need to put on the Teensy? If so, won't I be able to sync the teensy LED to the MIDI clock without the Sync cable being attached?

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

It depends if it is a TS TRS connector, if the cord is balance or unbalanced, what type of shield the cord has, and the quality of solder. Also how you wrap and care for your cords. It has been said before that its based on what your plugging into, but from experience, 1/8 inch TRS cables are often of lesser quality in comparison to my 1/4 inch cords.

I work at the Woodfield Mall Hot Topic which is a big location in the Chicago land area. I can put some flyers or freebie cd's out for all the kiddies. I WILL actually make it a point to get them in the hands of people who WILL put em in their cd players and head out to the shows. Whoever is willing to have their stuff hosted in Hot Topic send me your Hot Topic appropriate goodies (no drug, alcohol, or sex references please)

If you have a radioshack anywhere near you you can just pick up a new pack of the actual headphone jacks for ~$4. If you're willing to wait a few days you could order some really cheap ones off ebay for a dollar or two (most of them are universal since they all use the same threads and sizes).

Oh i didn't know, I work a couple stores down from a radio shack so i'll just pick one up. The next trick is getting the jack to actual stay in one place long enough to screw the darn thing on!
