So I took a look at the Playstation buttons online, sadly I couldn't find my old controllers anywhere. But the buttons are roughly the same size as the Gameboy buttons. The main issue is they have 4 guide tabs total. 2 of the smaller ones can be cut off easily. The other 2 main tabs however are different sizes, so you'd have to trim them down to get'm to fit. Another issue is they don't look like they'd line up correctly. So even if you were able to cut/trim down the tabs the shapes wouldn't line up straight with the Gameboy. If I find a crappy PS1 controller at my local thrift store I'll give it a try though just to see how hard it would be. You've sparked my interest to give it a shot. wink

I'm not sure but I could check for you. wink I think I've got one laying around somewhere.

Mostly they were broken controllers that I'd be getting. Wouldn't want to destroy a bunch of working controllers for something so minor. I had an old one that was trashed so I decided to try this out. The guide tabs are almost identical. These however have a 3rd tab that needs to be cut off to fit into the Gameboy but for the most part it's a direct fit. I was just curious about it since I never really saw anyone else try it out (at least to my knowledge). Not to mention if I were to get some broken controllers I'd have more then enough of these suckers laying around since there would be 2 sets per controller. smile BTW kitsch, I know you're the man for cool stuff, you're my dealer for mods as it is. To be honest these colors wouldn't be a bad addition to your line up, of course I know you'd want the peoples opinion first before investing into them. wink  I will say I like the recessed X&Y buttons (lavender), same as the original NES buttons, but I've noticed everyone that sells buttons don't have that mold type.

I'm not posting anything for sale....yet. I'm looking for feedback if anyone would be willing to buy these if I were to post them for sale first. Mainly because I might be getting a bunch of SNES controllers soon so I wanted to see if people would possibly be interested. It would only be for the A&B buttons of course. Sadly the D-pad is to big out of the SNES controller. Obviously they'd have some minor wear and tear being that they're originals and all. They do require a small modification (rather they need a small guide tab cut off) which I'd do prior to selling. Any feedback would be appreciated, not to mention let me know how they look. wink

Sorry they're not on a finished Game Boy, I'm waiting on parts.

Ok, I'm making this thread for anyone wanting to backlight a MGB. I recently tried to do this mod for the first time and thought I was being careful enough with the screen and from every tutorial I found on the matter none of them really said much other then "BE VERY CAREFUL!" This doesn't really do much to tell me what I'm supposed to be careful with since I've backlit a DMG before and it's obviously not the same beast. So, in part I've included some pics to show where I made the mistake. Sadly they're not from the beginning of the project but they still show at least a way to prevent what I did wrong.

So when trying to remove the back film you don't have as much room to play with as you do with a DMG. The real issue is the ribbon on the bottom of the screen. This is the most fragile part other then the screen itself.

If you push on that tab where the ribbon cable is connected, or if you pull to hard on the cable itself while removing the film, you can and will start to break the contacts. This can not be seen with the naked eye however. Think of it like bending a wire back and forth to much till it breaks from the tension. Since these contacts are surrounded by an adhesive, they can break and still look like they are connected. This image is only after I noticed that those contacts had been broken, just a small tug to pull the part from the adhesive holding it yielded me this.

As a suggestion, if you plan to try this mod use a piece of tape to secure the ribbon down. Don't use to much force when trying to get under the ribbon to remove the film. Don't under any circumstance place your thumb or finger on that tab when removing the film since any pressure against it can bend/break it. As stated by most, take your time.

I hope this helps for anyone that is wanting to try this mod for themselves.

I'm confused as to what happened to the pocket I just tried this on. The screen seems to reply to the contrast dial and if a game is in it responds to a screen/level change (meaning the screen goes darker for a brief second), but I've got nothing else on it. Sound works, no black death, screen doesn't have to much pressure on it, no cracks, and still nothing. sad

So I'm looking to buy 2-3 Nuby Speaker attachments/amplifiers for the DMG. They do not have to work, just need the plastic and the circuits to all be in tact for a project I'm working on. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.

Update: I found some of these for sale on Amazon so I have what I needed. Thank you to any that looked at my post.
