People losing their shit over every Lindsey Stirling Violin Dubstep Pop Rock cover whatever. It's all super boring to my ears. Not sure why. But I just hate it.

can regular 5-pin DIN midi jacks be used beside the USB?

I don't see any pinouts for MIDI jacks, so I'd assume not. I think that the Teensy is a solution for people like myself who do not wish to use anything but USB MIDI with their Gameboys. Arduinoboys are multi-purpose because they natively support MIDI jacks and can easily be made computer-friendly with a USB-MIDI interface.

Different strokes/platforms for different folks.

Hi,

There is few things to assemble, the switch (to change mode) with a resistor and the leds with their resistors, that's it..

Will maybe do a "shield" but do you prefer to have smd leds directly soldered to the shield or pads to add 3 or 5mm leds ?

Alley Beach has been talking to me about a few shield ideas, if you would care to collaborate I'm sure he and I would be excited to bounce ideas around with you. smile

The SGB CPU derived its clockspeed from an external source. When in a DMG, it gets its speed from the DMG's CPU crystal. When in the SGB, it is derived from the SNES clock. The difference is like 2.4% speed increase in the Super Gameboy using the SNES clock. It's possible to cut the trace in the board, wire in a DMG crystal, and have accurate speeds. You can also just use a Super Famicom and a SGB 2 which has a link port as well as a dedicated CPU crystal.

The more you know. wink

EDIT: But when you go around transplanting the CPUs, you are not transplanting the crystal that creates the timing, you are just moving the chip. They are two separate entities.
EDIT 2: LSDJ is brilliantly coded, as kinectturtle pointed out, to modify the pitch tables to work to compensate for the SGB CPU, not 100% sure if it compensates for tempo too (but I think it does)

My big guilty pleasure is listening to tuba battles, typically hosted and participated in by exclusively black colleges and universities. There's something super powerful about "bad" tuba playing when executed properly. The explicit manipulation of range, intonation, and timbre of the tuba outclasses anything else I have heard for brass in marching bands. The use of harmony in the the super low range is fascinating to me.

Wow that's a tight fit. I'll have to do a test cut on a plain grey case when I get the change. smile Looks good!

My job starts tomorrow. Will be cashing in all money possible for this (I get a paycheck as well as tips). Could you upgrade me to an assembled-by-jazz board please? :)

It's been awhile since a real update here on chip music!

But the kit I'm most excited about is the RGB Switches. This one piece kit has 3 on/off push buttons to control any RGB LED device such as the kitsch-bent backlights, RGBss(backlit start and select buttons) or the RGB Case LEDs kit. OR all at once! It easy mounts to the top of a DMG case with 2 included screws and spacers.
Check the options bar because you can add an RGB backlight for an additional $13. This is the original version of the KB RGB backlight and comes with a resistor breakout board rather than having to deal with individual resistors.

Just want to say that these new buttons are SUPER low-profile and I think they would look great with RCA jacks up alongside them. Got to play with them a bit at BRKfest, and I am strongly considering having them included in my order from Justin! (Recently got that pizza delivery job, should be getting money this month, SUPER excited.)

Have you opened up those mGB carts I gave you yet? I can't remember if I placed it, but if there is a wire leading from the top of the ROM to pin 31 of the cartridge slot, you can reprogram those as well!

Oh my! That's neat, I will have to look in them later xD currently I just know that they work.

Oh crap I need this. And it can flash saves and ROMs as well, correct? I am in sore need of a flasher for my ASM carts.

My friends mostly acknowledge that I do chip music. My girlfriend is extremely supportive of my chipmusic stuff, going as far as making me custom Gameboy Color cases and watching BRKfest this year with me. She and I were good friends when we were like 6 years old, then she moved 200 miles away to another state. 12 years later we reconnect, and we like all the same stuff we did as kids. Turns out she was a big fan of VGM music and Anamanaguchi, now she's in love with Smiletron and Roboctopus, amongst many others. I couldn't be any luckier.

However, the rest of my state needs to wake up, it's mostly me and Roboctopus jamming out in our homes all alone. We should try and fix that at some point. Also, piecesofeight does sweet Famitracker stuff, and he's in state and also a bedroom chip dude.

"Adult Baby's Diaper Rationale" is amazing, and the end of "Bluster and Famish" is genius,

Excellent work, will be throwing some Paypal love at this later this month.

FRAM is Ferromagnetic RAM (google it!), basically allows RAM to retain data even without a power source (like traditional RAM).

By the way, welcome fellow Alabamian. In Tuscaloosa, here.
