But with comments like that we're on our way there right?

I mentioned 8bc at the beginning, because it does have a longer history.
Do you think in world war two, when they were deciding to give people guns because "we'll need them to shoot like we did in world war one" people said "fuck off the guns, this isn't world war one"?

well, now that we're (predictably) 8 pages in...i only said that because here we can have this discussion!

im pissed to see NO reference to inpuj, one of the oldest running netlabels in a chip listing! a majority of the stuff there is experimental, sure...but certainly considered chip. maybe just too obscure, but i've repped inpuj for over ten years now. definately worth checking out.

this is how i got my name:

i was asleep in a dream (a very lucid one of course), and in the dream, i wake up, and a completely awesome song is playing out of my acer 286 thats sitting at the foot of my bed on a nightstand. i fumbled around to get closer and hear it and in the titlebar in impulse tracker, the words 'shawn phase' were there. so i paid close attention to the song in the dream, and then woke up and wrote it to the best of my ability. a live version from an early pre-pulsewave nyc show is here if anybody would like to hear.

welcome. dont worry about what you use to make music, if its good its all good. most of the older people in the scene use trackers mainly because its faster, but because you can get more ideas out too and a lot of the tracker guys (myself included) feel using a gameboy is antiquated. doesnt make anybody better or worse, but you'd be hard pressed to find a bad musician or songwriter in this scene.
