I'm in Austin, TX and since everything is so small I could send it for free smile

I'm a Korg man, MS2000, MicroKorg, circuit bent Kaossillator, and KP2. Looking to get a Moog eventually.
n00bstar - There are ways to record with analog equipment and digital at the same time. The way I have my analog toys set up is my synths going through a Behringer mixer going to a Sony VSC tape deck, then to a Fostex A4 reel-to-reel, then to the Mbox for ProTools. By having them wired in a chain, it makes it sooooo much easier to get a good recording on multiple formats, plus once it gets to the Mbox, it has a VERY nice cripsy analog distortion to it. I definitely agree that if you're really going for the pure analog sound, then it's kinda pointless to have your analog instruments recorded solely with digital equipment. The analog instruments produce the sexy sounds, but without the "fuzz" that you get with analog recording equipment, it's pretty much the same as using midi patches on Reason or some other VST program. I wouldn't say that it defeats the purpose of using them, because it's always more fun IMO to use actual analog hardware over software in any scenario. It's all personal preference though.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far smile
I got the Dpad/button LED's hooked up yesterday, and they look awesome! I'm still working on getting the case LED's wired, but I think you'll really dig 'em. I also received the new Variable Clock from Kitsch, so I'll try to get that in there today if possible. I'm looking forward to blowing this blog up with more pics and videos asap!

I'm not as familiar with Dar Warst's work as everyone else seems to be, but that KP is fucking impressive. I'm sure it was MUCH more difficult to work with the KP than most other chip-related instruments, considering it's built with more up-to-date components than a simple DMG or NES. It most likely required soldering to SMD components, which takes much more skill IMO. From personal experience, I can say that circuit bending a DMG is nothing compared to circuit bending a Kaossilator (not quite a KP, but probably built very similar). I've also seen stupid shit that you can easily build yourself with pre-made kits, such as Atari PUNK consoles, sell for as much as $100 on eBay. With that said, I personally think the price is very fair, and if I had the money I'd gladly take it off your hands smile

This should help you find the points for hooking up external controls,

Hmm I'm starting to think that there's probably just something wrong with my cart, maybe the lsdj version is too outdated or something... Once I get my other 64m USB cart back from a friend ill see if that one works. Thanks for the help!

Mr. Oizo, Flying Lotus, Aphex Twin.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to make up a list of what cartridges will and will not work with the Mega Memory Card GameBoy accessory. I've currently got one internally installed in a DMG, but I noticed that my USB cart will not work (cart backup and passthrough) with the MMC. My non-USB flash cart works perfectly, it's memory can be fully backed up and restored, and the cart passthrough works perfectly. So, if anyone has a MMC and wouldn't mind contributing to this list, it would be greatly appreciated!

Compatible Cartridges:

Non-Compatible Cartidges:
  -64M USB Smart Card

I have a Yobo FC Twin, and it sucks ass when using a super gameboy... haven't tried the midiNES on it but I'm sure it's just as bad.

Bipolar disorder is a bitch.

I feel ya bro, it's definitely a bitch to say the least, but don't let it get the best of you. Hang in there man smile

My DMG keyboard is pissing me off. In the process of building it, it has consumed 3 cartridge ports, 2 motherboards, 2 daughterboards (including screens) one DMG shell, almost a month of my life, and most of what remained of my sanity and peace of mind... Thanks a lot, creativity, you managed to turn me into a complete basket case... and it still doesn't work yet...

Anyone have a Gameboy with a busted screen they want to give me? I need another cartridge port.

Try using the cart port from a N64 Transfer Pack, it's much easier to remove in my opinion. I'm using one in my current DMG project and they're much cleaner and better built, most likely because they came out much later than the DMG's and probably weren't used too much. I just had to buy a replacement the other day from eBay, $10 w/ free shipping, and there's plenty of them smile

Alrighty well the problem has been solved! I feel incredibly stupid for not realizing the problem sooner, it turned out to just be the power switch. I had connected pin 4 to the wrong side of the switch haha. Thanks for all your help, GoingHam!
Btw, prepare for a hefty update...
