So the top plate doesn't look too great? Just the outer edges or the whole thing? But yeah I used a dremel to cut the plastic and I don't have a router accessory so it was a bit tough keeping it straight haha. I'll probably invest in one of those soon and redo the top plate. Any other suggestions? I'm thinking I need to completely replace the top half of the dmg shell and heavily rework the back half

Sure, I'm open to criticism. What were you thinking? I've been considering swapping the front half of the shell with a new one that doesn't have so many imperfections.

As for the DMGs with the SGB CPU, depending on the price, I may be interested. Send me a pm and we can talk about it.

Bump. Need some stock DMG guts.

So are these Altane programmers fully compatible with macs? If so I must have one!

Could you post a pic of the screen to show the lines? Have you added any modifications to the DMG or is it stock?

That's pretty cool, how high of quality are those cases? And if the padding was modified, would it be able to house a modded DMG with switches, pots, RCA's, etc. sticking out of the top? None of my DMG's will fit into my GB cases sad

I think the singe on the ribbon is not the problem, as long as the thin ribbon wires are not snapped/broken and the burn is not on the connector end.
I added a white LEDx3 backlight to a PIL DMG not too long ago, and the DMG had been working fine before I started modding it, but after I put in the backlight, I would turn on the DMG and the backlight would turn on, the sound would work, but nothing displayed on the LCD except a big black square. I tinkered around with different resistors and different methods of wiring the backlight to the DMG, but none fixed the problem. Then someone (probably Kitsch) suggested changing the caps to fix that problem, because the caps eventually die out especially on the older models. Even if that isn't the problem, changing the caps is still a good idea to prevent the DMG from having any problems in the future.

Try replacing the capacitors, I had the same problem a while back and swapping out all of the capacitors with one of Kitsch's kits fixed it.

Why do you push the better sounding r2r down to that prosumer dictation recorder? Any analog mojo from the first has to be wiped out by the generation lost artifacts of the later?

Simply to get the recordings onto cassette tapes that I can manipulate without fucking up the master recordings. I personally love the shitty quality that crappy analog recording devices can provide. Sometimes I'll take the R2R recording to cassette, then re-record the cassette onto a reel and start the process over. Every time it goes through, it adds a bit more fuzz and distortion to the sound. If I'm going for clear recordings I just run the R2R into my mixer and then to my Mbox/ProTools.

I use a Fostex 4-track Reel-to-reel tape recorder going to one of these,

Not the best quality but it has variable speech control for masking voices, and it creates some very interesting effects. Kinda ghetto but fairly cheap and easy to use.

Awesome! I'm having a bit of trouble finding a XP iso that is still actively seeded... Which version of XP should I go with?

What about the Mac/Linux driver? I've used it in Linux and its fantastic. No multirom support though AFAIK.

Edit: Here's the link.

Yeah that's the one I've been using, it works if I'm transferring game .roms and .savs, I had no problem loading Pokemon Red and a completed .sav file to the cart, but then tried to upload LSDJ and an album that was on a .sav file, and it corrupted the midi functions and songs sad

My bad, they're EMS carts. I've tried Parallels Desktop, but now that I think about it, I never downloaded the Windows OS ISO and couldn't use the program. I'll find the Windows XP disc image and see if I can get Parallels up and running. Thanks!

Can someone point me in the direction of a good Windows emulator for Mac? Or a good Mac App that works with USB Smart Carts? I've tried using the command prompt method (there's another name but can't think of it) to flash .roms and .savs to my carts, but the files always get corrupted slightly to where some of the functions (such as LSDJ MIDI Out) will not work.
