I've had the same problem every time I've tried to use MIDI out with LSDJ and an AB... Haven't messed with the new LSDJ version, but I've built tons of AB's in the past and couldn't ever get MIDI out functioning. The way I usually test if the MIDI out jacks are working is by testing the MIDI thru functionality. If you can send MIDI thru, then your AB/MidiOut is fine and it's a problem with LSDJ. I believe the problem with mine is that I use a Mac and USB Smart Carts, which do not work well together, and it's corrupted my LSDJ roms.

I'm a big Nirvana fan, and Kurt Cobain was a big role model to me during those pissed-off-at-everything teenage years. Boddah was the name of his childhood imaginary friend.

^This sounds like the best option, but also the most expensive. Reverse engineering the MidiNES would be cheap, but having something with an improved interface would be much better.
How much money are we talking about to get this Neil Baldwin guy on board? Maybe we could get a kickstarter page going for it?

I'm pretty bummed to hear all of this about the Chip Maestro. I was planning on getting one, hoping it would be as good as the MidiNES, but it looks like that isn't the case.

If there's enough interest in reverse engineering, I could take pics of the inside of my MidiNES, take notes of all the components, and do my best to draw up a schematic. With the whole Wayfar scam history, and the fact that the site is STILL taking orders even tho there's people who have waited years after paying and received absolutely nothing, it's reasonable IMO to reverse engineer it. The people who sent that asshole money and never received anything in return deserve to have another option that is more affordable. So if anyone wants to get that going, hit me up and I'll be happy to help with what I can.

AB Kits now lowered to $40
MIDI SGB will be available soon after I receive the Link Port mod kit, should be within a few weeks.
FrankenBoy still open for offers, really need to get it sold!

That trade could happen! I cleared out their stock on 4-way players last night though wink

Would you be willing to trade 3 pcbs for one of the kits?

Business has been kinda slow for me recently, so if you still need someone to do the tutorials, I'd love to help! I know PowerPoint well, and can make videos.
Also, I have a box full of faulty DMG PCB's, mainly backs, and there's also a few CGB PCB's (no LCD's) in there. Only two of the DMG boards have the blobbed CPU's. I'm not sure what is wrong with each, but I'm pretty sure the CPU's are good on almost all of them, and most have the power/audio pcbs attached. All but maybe one or two have the link ports still attached. They are all faulty in some way, but the components can be put to good use.

I believe I have another box with more, that may not actually be faulty, but I'll have to do some digging.

thursdaycustoms -  I've been waiting for you to release those suckers for a long time, they would work great with SGB's and they look really nice. I agree with TylerBarnes about buying a ton of 4-player adapters and scrapping the 3 ports, and you could use the cable for your ArduinoBoys. I recently bought a ton of those and I'm using the cables in my DIY AB kits, and the port on my SGB is from a 4-player adapter. I'd be willing to trade some of the PCBs with the link ports still attached for one of those fancy SGB link port kits smile

Thanks guys! The client that I originally built this for wanted an all-in-one GB with every mod I could think of crammed into it. I'm not super pleased with the overall aesthetic look, hence the name "FrankenBoy", but it makes up for that with all of the mods.

katsumbhong - I mainly used 28 awg stranded wire, but I also used super thin single strand wire and some 30 awg stranded wire.

Hey guys, I decided to add a DMG Link Port to my SGB w/Internal ArduinoBoy and I'm having a little trouble.
I wired the port using this schematic,

The CPU pins 68, 69, & 70 are connected to both the link port and the ArduinoBoy, the same with GB pins 1 and 32. CPU pin 63 only goes to the link port.
The ArduinoBoy has no problems communicating with the CPU, but nothing seems to be going to the link port. Could this be caused by the 220 ohm resistors on the link port? I tried syncing the SGB with a DMG both running LSDJ to see if it could do the simple Master/Slave sync, but nothing happened. Also, I could only get my EMS USB cart to boot, my Non-usb smart card would not boot for some reason. Before installing the link port I didn't have trouble getting it to boot, but it could just be dirty pins/connectors.

Any suggestions?

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to play notes, or just start the song, or what? I have a ton of problems when trying to sync my MicroKorg and Korg MS2000 to LSDJ. When the AB is in LSDJ Slave mode, the only things I can do with the Korgs are start the song (can't remember which key does that) and change the tempo. It's very glitchy tho, and I've heard a lot of other people complaining about using Korgs with ABs. Try syncing your AB to your computer, it's much easier to troubleshoot that way in my opinion. You can also test the MIDI In by using your Electribe to play notes through mGB. Then you can test the MIDI Out by syncing LSDJ (Master) to your Electribe's MIDI In, then start a song in LSDJ and see if the tempo LED on your Electribe syncs with the status LED on your AB, but I believe that's all you will get from the Electribe unless using the special MIDI OUT version of LSDJ.

Oh snap, my bad man. Last time I checked (weeks ago) you were out of the white ones, but I see now that you have them. Thanks!!

The new products look great! Any chance of you getting another batch of density backlights soon?
