standalone plugin doesn't really make sense.

do you mean a mini sequencer that is not a full DAW like fruity / ableton / cubase? Ie a really small sequencer app that you can route midi out to VST's? or like a big old sequencer to use ur plugins inside(ie fruity or ableton etc) ?

Actually it does make sense in the case of reViSiT. It can be used stand-alone or as a sequencer within a VST host.

I don't expect a Christmas release but once it does come out I'm certain my heart will grow three sizes that day.

I'm in the middle of pushing for a public demo release. So maybe you will get to try it out soon.

Given that every claim in this application can be invalidated by prior art and given the amount of press coverage about it, I wouldn't worry about it being accepted or standing for very long if it is.

Unless they can think of a unique implementation (they haven't) they won't sneak this through.

Whee! This is a little jam that I threw online recently. Some day perhaps this'll become a full length song.

Here's a video of my current setup in action. Obviously I'm not using everything all at once but I've got a lot going with LSDJ driving midi to 4 different devices.

It all depends on how chippy and lo-fi you want to sound. You can get some really neat sounding noise drums using techniques like Mrwimmer outlined but don't expect to get a realistic snare sound or an 808 kick with just the noise channel.

So this is coming up[!!!]. Despite the how closed sample importing will seem to be at launch, it looks sexy as hell, and since an sdk is being released, someone could easily come up with a simpler system to import samples.

One question, I do have about it though, before commiting to a pre-order: Will the midi in let me play this as a mono synth (repitching the sample) using a keyboard, or will the different keys just trigger different samples the same way the device's keyboard does?

As with the other Volcas I'd bet that MIDI will allow for some additional control over what is available without. I have all three of the previous Volcas and each have "hidden" parameters and settings that can be accessed via MIDI, so I wouldn't lose all hope on the matter.

If you need any 3D prints for the housing I'd be more than willing to send you a print for just the cost of shipping.

Not pictured are the mixer, audio interface & modern PC just out of frame on the right and the NES and DOS laptop out of frame to the left.

It's not cheating unless you're claiming to do something you're not. If you get on stage and say "I'm playing this live!" and you're not then I could see that as a cheat but if you get on stage and say "Dance! Enjoy!" then don't worry about it.

Does shutdown /s not work?

The CF will act exactly as a HDD would.
