The original RCA had a lot of chiptune sounds, including some great samples from the C64. I'd assume RCA 2 is a similar deal, right?

Hey, feel free to use any of my music. It can be found at http://jefftheworld.com and each album is available to download for free in a zip file or individual songs may be downloaded separately.

it costs $50 to register with ASCAP

Is that a one-time fee? You might want to talk to some ASCAP artists with similar levels of expose to you. It's a bit different in Canada as SOCAN paid for my US registration fees but even if you're only earning a couple dollars a week in royalties it's not necessarily a terrible idea if it's a one-time registration fee and if your music continues to be played/performed for years to come.

Singing! Leave this place now!

;3

Seriously, not my style but well produced stuff. I'm always happy seeing people doing their own thing and getting excited by it and clearly these gals and guys are pretty good at what they do.

If any of you SF kids ever make it all the way over to Toronto you should shoot me a message and I can see if we can't get you in on a show here.

shouldnt have to run in mono? if a club's system is mono, its mono. there is no 'shouldnt have to' when stereo isnt an option. unfortunately for you this is how most clubs are. its like expecting itunes to run an .ogg.

To be fair, I think what we're talking about here are venues that HAVE stereo systems but which have phasing issues nonetheless. I find it quite a common error. You'll have a stereo source going into a stereo system but the audio engineer has put you into two mono channels and hasn't panned those two channels.

the iphone guitar rig is mono, and it's going into my own mixer, it's inconsequential.  It's just the stereoness of the gameboys that throws them.

Yeah, for me it's my C64 that is easy enough to deal with as it's always mono but some of my DOS/Amiga/Game Boy/PSP/etc tracks get really fucked when forced mono, so I eventually had to rewrite mono versions of certain tracks.

I actually have both mono and stereo setups that I'll use. Sometimes I'll have to use a mono bed track or remove all panning in order to work with a venue that simply can't manage to get stereo working.

In general I find that it's the Rock venues that are the worst as they're used to running mostly just mics and DIs off of amps rather than the sort of setup that is common to electronic music (danimal, I know that you use an iPhone for your guitar so I'm sort of lumping into the "weird setup" category). Dance venues, goth clubs and any place that more commonly deals with electronic music usually have far fewer issues.

The best solution that I've found is to come prepared with a mono setup just in case. It sucks to lose intended stereo effects or separation but it's better than having phasing issues that totally ruin a song. Just practice putting all your stuff together in a mono system and make sure you can hear everything that's meant to be heard.

I use a VM plus a USB parallel port for my old exchanger 2 as well and it works fine.

I think radOS might be interested. Perhaps he'd be a good dude to talk to about a collab, Alpine.

Yeah, Syd is the dude to ask for details on getting started with it. Here's the details he gave me:

An Amstrad cpc 6128 with color monitor ans Starkos tracker is all you need : )

And adding a 3"1/2 floppy drive so that transferring files and software from pc is easy

Also, an other solution, would be to order a CPC booster (something like 20€ i think), which allows to conenct the PC and the CPC for development. Then, you have a tracker on PC, called Arkos Tracker. You can use it on PC only, but also, together with the Amstrad, when you press play non the PC, the sound is played on the CPC. Pretty nice, but for some reasons, i like to use CPC only.

A good ressource center for CPC is Push n Pop website

french demoscene website

most of the active guys are french now, or some german ... the scene is quite small

http://pushnpop.net/

Also, for special pieces of hardware, you can ask directly to the guys there (CPC booster, cables ...)

The guy whod evelops Arkos and Starkos is called Targhan, very nice guy, who answers directly to your questions. That's how I started : )

Maybe, the most difficult point for you will be to find a CPC ?

and the opposite point of view: soundwave trax "owns" his youtube channel, he can make his own decisions and they dont affect anyone really apart from helping people discover new chiptunes & get more into it

any desire to "just accept" it? probably not, you clearly believe strongly in something else

"just accept the opposite point of view" is an odd thing to say and you wouldnt have said it if you had already done it yourself. did you mean "just accept it, i'm right" or did you mean "let's stop talking about it"? either way begging for people to prematurely end a discussion which you were happily partaking in a few posts ago is another cool chipscene trope smile

I think a channel like that is great, I totally accept it. Had he uploaded my music I would have not only accepted it but been happy about it.

I'm not telling people to end the discussion, I'm saying that both points of view are valid and therefor trying to find a singular "correct" answer is going to be fruitless. Morever, being rude about it like kfaraday was isn't going to help.

If your argument is that TSS simply shouldn't be allowed to control the rights to his music, then I'll tell you that I simply disagree and you're correct in saying I'll probably have a hard time ever accepting that.

EDIT: And yes, obviously soundwave owns his channel but that's not what's being argued over. He can autonomously make any decisions that pertains to his own IP or IP that he is licensed to use. What's being argued here is that TSS' IP was not properly licensed for soundwave's use.

Wouldn't it be easier to just contact the artists? I think a good deal of musicians would be fine with their music being posted and it would save you time and effort.

Not really. I used to do this on a previous channel and most\a lot of them didn't reply back. I didn't think it would be a problem given the nature of the license and since I don't do this for profit. I also did not modify the songs in any way; the purpose of the each video was the song itself.

From now on I will make sure not to share your music with my friends\acquaintances since it might bother you. /sarcasm

If you read any of my posts you'll see I have nothing against people sharing my music. I'm only against sharing music of artists who do not wish their music to be shared.

Seriously, why do you need to insult people who chose a different route for their music management than you do?

TSS isn't saying "Nobody should ever allow anyone to share their music on youtube", he's saying that he doesn't want it happening to people who don't want their music shared. Contacting the author's ensures this. Really though, he just wanted his own music taken down. Are you TSS' biggest fan, why do you care?

Why does nobody on this forum have any desire to just accept the opposite point of view? TSS owns TSS' music, he can make his own decisions and they don't affect your musical career at all.
