The contrast thing is very common, I wouldn't worry about it.

Something to note, the F command will "cross" into frames of subsequent 'synths'. So if the frame at 1F is playing and you issue a F01 command, it will begin playing 20, if will not wrap and play 10.

I don't care about emulation or reproduction devices for old software or hardware like this, to be honest. As long as it's being sold openly as such.
This item is certainly not "of no value to anyone". The hardware is neat enough and it's worth something, just not worth $500.

Yeah, this is the guy who posts those deceptively listed fake developer units. He straight up lied to be about many crucial details about one of his previous units and I wouldn't trust a thing he said or buy anything he listed.

Re: USB charger question (1 replies, posted in General Discussion)
The amperage is mathematically linked to your resistance and voltage. In this case your voltage (4.2v or 5v) and your resistance (the internal resistance of the battery and charging circuitry) are fixed, so the amperage will be fixed as well. When you so those listings for 0.5 or 5A it's talking about the maximum amperage you can draw.
Your charge circuit allows up to 2A, so on the wall charger, which can give up to 5A, it'll charge quickly. On the pc port which can only give 0.5A, it will charge more slowly.
TL: DR; There's nothing to worry about.

What a great event! Lots and lots of fun! Everyone I met and talked to was amazingly cool which, given the number of performers, is basically a chipmas miracle. Hope anyone who came in from out of town has a safe trip home and I can't wait for another opportunity to work together!

Initially he had aimed for it to be a playback tool but it's obvious that going the whole way is a great idea. At the time I made this post he had yet to add save functionality and was still billing it as a player.

Re: Gameboy cartridge not working **Pics inside** (26 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
so when you blow on a cartridge the oxygen from the Carbon Dioxide that humans exhale bonds with the contacts and oxidizes them? Interesting. I always thought it was blowing dust off of the contacts that helped, not the humidity. I always tried to blow into the cartridges with a more closed embouchure. Does that mean it'd actually be better to use a wider embouchure to allow more humidity to escape?
I'd be willing to bet it's neither humidity nor dust that makes the biggest difference. Surface dust is not likely to be a big issue and small amounts of humidity won't likely do much of anything.
I think a majority of the effect is in the re-seating of the cartridge. Pulling the cartridge out and replacing it allows a chance of better contact and maybe even causes both a degree a scraping of that oxidized layer (which is pretty thin).
That said, the best cleaning technique is with alcohol and scrubbing. For extremely bad cases, a very, very light grade of sandpaper used conservatively will make a big difference.
