CCDM and Decktonic were on our last show, and they used an Amiga and DS, respectively.  We're always looking for more than just NES/Gameboy, but it's harder to find anyone in those areas willing.

Oh yeah. I forgot about those. I have seen some non-80's-Nintendo performances.

And just so this post isn't completely pointless, I just wanted to say that I always type stuff like "Wooo!" in the chat box at times in which it'd be appropriate to say such at a live show. It's more fun to me that way. It probably gets annoying for the other people though.

As for things that would be interesting to see at any live event, streamed or not,  It'd be cool to see some kind of tracker shed-session type thing in which you'd have 2 or more artists synced to a machine with a click track (or bassline or drum beat), and they'd go around the room taking turns showing off their impromptu/deaf tracking/tabling/composing/EQing/etc. skills for 2-4 bars each. Since composing is a bit different than playing a live instrument. Kind of like a freestyle battle, they'd get a couple of bars to do the sequencing equivalent of "Oh! yeah, uh huh, Ungh, alright, alright, I got dis" that freestylers use while their thinking of what to say next, lol.

And then at the end everybody triggers their phrases at the same time for a fun chaotic mess.

Kind of irrelevant to the topic, I know, and it relies on having the artists in the same venue together, but still, it could be fun.

In a perfect chiptopian world you guys would come to Wilmington, NC and do an all-ages show. LOL. In an even more perfect chiptopia, you'd play in the little town of Whiteville at the High school auditorium. And they'd love it. LOL. But alas...

It's always pretty fun when the home artist chats with us in the chatbox in between pressing start and select (I haven't yet seen any stream shows not based around Gameboys or NES sad )

Or at least reads the chat.

The appeal of a webshow for me is when I really want to physically attend a show, but I can't. Or, just to chat and hang out with the people who tune in. It's like skyping. Or posting in a message board. But with live entertainment that everybody is watching at the same time.

btw, are you talking about video streaming or just audio/radio format? Or both?

- most shows are simply way too long and don't have enough of a benefit-to-cost ratio.  i appreciate the sheer novelty of having 10-hour streaming extravaganzas, but now that i've experienced it, i don't think i really need to experience it again in that way.  i realized that my attention span can only sustain me for about 4 hours or so, beyond that, my mind kind of burns out.

As a person on the receiving end, I like being able to know that even if I have a busy schedule chances are that with a 10-hour extravaganza I'll be able to see at least 1 performance at some point in the day/night.

- artist delays are kind of a big problem.  hopefully there'll be some common policy/understanding as to handling late starts, cutting sets short, etc.  one way to mitigate this is to have intermissions every couple of hours.

Yeah. Having artists come on back-to-back with no intermission can lead to some embarrassing delays. I don't personally care about the delays myself, though. I'm on the internet. I have other things I can do, lol.

- maybe the whole streamed show / Lineup Of Artists is fundamentally flawed format?  one alternative i had in mind was a "variety show" of shorts, a two-hour format where 2-to-4 active chip people discuss the latest goings-on panel-style over skype.  pepper in one or two artist interviews/streamed performances, and small segments like "chipmusic 101" or modding tutorials.  basically it would be an amalgamation of shows like  TrueStar's NoiseChan, Seaking's Seaglass and those State of the Game starcraft podcasts where players/casters just shoot the breeze in a 5-way split screen window.

That would actually be pretty cool and legit. Kind of like American Band Stand type thing crossed with Tonight Show/SNL/Carson Daly.

- people performing from their homes:  some (rightfully) think that it's lame, others see it as a refreshing window into the lives of chip artists.  what do you think?

I think it's cool. Live music always has a different feel than recorded stuff, even if it's just streamed directly from home, and I actually sometimes prefer the live performances over the studio recordings. Streaming parties with a line-up of artists performing from home are pretty cool, as it's not a live stream of a live concert, but a live streamed concert in and of itself, you know? It's like, instead of "Vegan Eggs", I think of it as "Fried Tofu".>_>

<_<

I watch youtube videos of people performing at home, so *shrug*. I don't see anything wrong with it, though i can see the la-... I mean uncool element of it.

I just feel like, live streams don't get enough attendance, though.

Edit: I feel like home streamed shows could be a little more engaging, though. Dramatic lighting effects and stuff.

Edit edit: My favorite live streamed shows are the ones in which the camera is in the back of the venue so that at least some of the crowd can be seen. It feels more immersive that way.

Groovy

Sounds like cool tap dancing routine. Just sayin'.

I'm going to have to leave this one to the pros. I honestly wouldn't bother about it. btjm. have you tried using an instrument with the envelope set to 33 in the instrument screen, without having to use the CMD column to change your E83 instrument to E33?

I meant professionals who work in the field of caring for the developmentally disabled. Just for clarification.

Huh. That song seems to take a few cues from the Nightrider theme... interesting.

Anuyway, Try to avoid using K commands on the Wave channel if you can. Try using E00, or E01 to fade it out and avoid the loud clicks.

Do professionals still refer to mentally handicapped/developmentally challenge as being "R-worded" anymore?

I use that word when referring to a section of a song in which the musical device "Rit.(Ritardando)" is employed. Is that offensive/insensitive? e.g. "The ending of that song shouldn't be r-worded guys. It loses energy that way."

Edit: whoops... sorry. Didn't mean to bump a 2 hour old thread...

I have a step bit that I got from Lowes. It wasn't very expensive, and it worked for my plastic guitar amp foots-witch. It looked like the ones in the above amazon link, but not as expensive.

That's pretty fun. If I had an iPad I'd definitely own this game.

On the flash version, at least, the treasure chest was covering up the stats of the boots when I hovered over it. Might want to address that.

That was really cool, though it was hard to tell where I was aiming sometimes (But that kind of helped set the mood at the more chaotic sections). It felt a bit like Iji in the mood that was set. Good stuff. However

I really enjoyed it, though. I wasn't expecting that genre to accompany the music, but it makes perfect sense.

Yes, N** is still offensive, though it seems offended people are starting to look the other way and swallow their cockles when it comes up. Not just anybody can get away with saying it in certain company.

I think everyone would benefit of a few light hearted and not so offended view of everything.

But I agree that if you are offended by something you should state and make your point. I guess that better than creating RULES that moderator can apply at their will, people should create an atmosphere of respect, not imposing that respect to everyone.

Hell, we're not 8bc. What is the avarage age of people here? 22? 25? C'mon, guys, we are far from kids anymore. We can talk before bringing the hammer.

If I ever get offended by someone here I would tell right away and if the offenses don't stop then the cops should be called.

I know why we have to have these kind of rules, I just don't agree on why that's such a BIG matter in a forum about music.

1. There was a short talk about it a few months ago when this issue came up.

2. "It's no big deal, I want to do the forbidden" vs. "If it's no big deal, then just don't say it".

Hermit of Garloz say: Though it's messed up, history has shown that it's very difficult for man to "create an atmosphere of good" without some outside push showing him the "error of his ways".

famitracker.com works fine for me.

Really nice, but the ending, while it was kind of fun to have my ears assaulted in that way, could be unpleasant to some people. I think it'd be cool to have some kind of pulsating sounds on the other channels to compliment it. It kind of reminds me of those rock bands when they keep the feedback ringing for 10 minutes after the song is over.

The issue isn't about mono or stereo. "Stereo Mix" is just the word used for the sound that is output. If there's no stereo mix on the soundcard, chances are there's no "Mono Mix" either. The issue is trying to record the sound that comes out of the speakers directly from the soundcard. In case there is any confusion.

A better term would be output mix or something, come to think of it.

Edit: Maybe you could run Linux in a virtual box and use JACK?
