It's cool, but it's no Custer's Revenge.

I really like my pornographic 8-bit games to be vulgar as well as culturally and racially offensive.

We digressed into a bunch of really fun philosophical conversations tonight:

<Telerophon> Interesting, I'd never explicitly conflated swagger with conspicuous consumption, but I can see the logical connection.
<Telerophon> I'd always thought it was more continuing with your business in spite of public widespread criticism.
<Telerophon> but I will have to research this further.
<Christian> Well, swagger problematizes conspicuous consumption by assuming it as a given; the dialectical implication is either that the systems that lead to swagger must stop, or must be made universally available.
<Christian> Which serves to place swagger as uniquely futurist - by its assumption of abundance, it implies that it is the default mode of being for whensoever futurist technology and social systems supply such a mode of living universally.

Nanoloop has such a different interface from a tracker that it's either really intuitive or really counterintuitive or somehow both at the same time.

I find it really easy to make something that sounds cool and have no idea how I did it or how to make anything else go with it.

And I covered a squarepusher song in Nanoloop iOS once. big_smile

Dude we should write a GameFAQ walkthrough for nanoloop 2.x

I want to look back on life and tell my grandchildren that their father(s) and/or mother(s) were conceived while I was a roadie on tour with the J. Arthur Keenes band.

The NES and the Famicom hardware are different enough that I bet there's a Gremlin in there that will be hard to find…

I wish I could help you, TSC, but I'm very new to NES Dev and the NES cart hardware spec. I hope we figure it out, though. smile

I looked up the cancer thing. Neil doesn't have cancer, but he's fundraising with his software for a cancer research charity in honor of his mother, who is currently surviving leukemia. This is from his campaign page:

Neil Baldwin wrote:

Hi,

Thanks for clicking the link and hopefully making a donation. It's truly appreciated, however small or large the sum.

My mum was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma about 3 years ago and is still fighting the disease. She wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the work of many amazing people who work directly and indirectly with cancer patients.

NTRQ was never going to be a commercial project for me but it does take up a large part of my spare time. By asking for a small donation I'm passing on your appreciation of the time and effort that I've put into it onto a cause which is close to my heart.

Peace and love,

Neil

I can build more but theres lead-times, this one can ship once paid.

Sweet. If you want to make a cottage industry of it, you could convert this thread after the fact to a per-order NTRQ cart thing.

Also, do you make these with donor boards, or from new parts? I don't know enough about NES repro stuff to be sure, but I'm under the impression you can make an NTRQ cart from all new parts out of stuff you can get from Digi-Key and RetroUSB.

EDIT: Oh shit, you can even use this thing to make Pulsar or PR8 carts. Damn, I hope they restock that thing!

I want to quit whatever I am doing with my life and just live in a J. Arthur Keenes album.

That'd be fantastic, dude! I actually told a kid at the show yesterday I'd teach him some game boy modding stuff, so it's cool that I can pay it forward like that now too. smile

Also, we're going to try to promote shows here a lot more heavily, get in touch if you wanna set something up or be in the loop when we do bookings. I suppose we should look into playing in San Antonio sometime, too. tongue

I went to UTSA for a while, I haven't been to the Alamo city in too long…

The rest of us are too crazy to stay together. sad

The developer of BGB is pretty regular on #gbdev on EFnet.

He's a pretty cool dude, too; I'm sure he'd be glad to answer your question or argue about politics with you any time. tongue

EDIT: Also, as I recall, some of BGB at least was based on research done by NoCash for NO$GMB, although I don't remember where I heard this or how this notion got into my head, so forgive me if that's not factually accurate.

Both emulators, BGB and NO$GMB, include powerful debuggers; this makes them extremely popular with homebrewers and hackers like us.

There's also a DOS version of NO$GMB, which is great if you have a relatively useless old computer you're comfortable repurposing into a dedicated tracking and dev machine.

Well, I have got to say that it is a mighty fresh looking cart.

I long for it, but don't have access to an NES or $40 right now. Good luck with the sale, I hope it finds a loving home!
