@Jansaw
I would love to use "alone in space" from you for the menu. Only could you make it loopable? (I could do it my self if you like, but I could screw it up)

@Dr Treble
I really like "Gaia" and "Trouble" to could you remix them to a 2 minute song or write something similar to it that is 2 minutes long?

If you want I could send you a buggy demo to get a bit of feeling for it (just checked the most recent version and apparently my programmer changed the controls and made them really hard to use so I have to look into that, but ok).

We want to get the demo out this week (or possibly the week after depending on how fast we can get a flying target in). I hope that is not to soon, but I'm well aware that I'm a bit late with that.

I was wondering if you people could help me out with some music. As I tried making my own without much luck (at least not fitting music).

Me and my friend/programmer are Dutch game development students currently making our first big project, next to our student game development work. It’s a 3D space shooter that places you in a civil war in which the Republic tries to stop the Independence from creating a separate government. Where you can fight for one of the groups.

About the game:
The game called ‘Tian Xia’ and its still in early development. The game is planned to have multiple game modes, from team based objective modes to free for all modes. And we are currently a developing a small demo to show the game off a bit, in this demo you shoot a flying target for 1 minute to get an high score like an arcade game.

At the moment I just used the music and sound effects that I myself made, but the music sounds like it came out of a happy platformer more than a space shooter. And I’m looking for music that sounds more game genre appropriate (think gradius, star fox, solar striker, etc. for music). We being student can’t afford buying music, so we are hoping someone has music that could fit and of course you’ll get credit. It would be great if it was specially written, but that’ll probably asking too much for a non-paid job.

(something you might consider)
In the final version of the game we also want to use fixed music (but that’s still far away, if ever) for the intro and menu, but when playing we want to make a way to put your own music into the game. And we need a few basic songs for that. Of course we than could offer a percentage of the earnings up to a certain point. And you’ll then also be credited. But this only applies when we finish the game.

I keep a development blog about the game, recently it is more a weekly game design article. With school and some of my programmers personal business we couldn’t work that much on it in the recent weeks. But we are currently working steadily pace again to get the demo out.

If there are any question feel free to ask. Or something you don’t agree with or seems to be out of the ordinary (I think I covered all bases but I can't be sure).

Thanks in advance!

I didn't have an one gameboy (my first gameboy I used for music was a mix of 5 killed gameboys, I dubbed it Frankenboy). But got them all from internet for about 5 euros each (then they where working, I killed most of them trying to mod them but RCA mod can be aweful when you dont know placement). And before that I had a Translucent purple GBA.

I've never ordered from him. But I vaguely remember a story about him being a (math?) teacher and doing this on the side, thus his shipping times are based on when his other job lets him.

nearly done.  its time to start thinking about the backlight color for the first run even.  i'm sort of stuck on green unless someone can change my mind...

if you actually mean new front replacement PCB then I can revive 4 out of my 5 dead gameboys (not placing a RCA mod can be a killer to a ribbon cable)

Any chance to buy it from Europe? Just to avoid the customs.

actually you don't have to deal with customs (at least not with nonfinite), I never had any problems or needed to pay import cost for anything from him. But I don't know about the other dealers. And here in Holland they are really nit-picky at customs

Alright, I taught that page 1 and page 2 had separate saves. (Apparently now all the save is recovered for some reason, weird.) But how can I tell if a program or games uses Sram, or do I have to find that out with just trying?

I recently had put some games of my page 2 of my card but after I opened LSDJ again I noticed that the song I have left open (was a small test so no loss) and when I tested if it where the games and not an error or something it happened again. Is there a way to not let that happen? If not, what are safe for page 2 games/programs?

why not just buy some regular rechargable batteries. charge them. put in gameboy. power. woooah.

+1
It seems to me that having rechargeable batteries are far better. There is no need for modding if the batteries go bad and you could easily switch between normal and rechargeable if needed (the very reason I hate the rechargeable battery of the 3ds or ds, because if you run out of power you don't really have a back up)

I'm writing this as a game developer (Roel from http://tianxiagame.tumblr.com/ *shameless self advertisement*) and someone who tries to make his own chipmusic, and at this point still failing badly (I probably need help...).

The original post wasn't that clear especially when it came to things as rights, payments and such. Something that could easily be avoided by letting be proof read by someone who also makes music on commission.
Also as someone who works in game development I can promise you that rarely people steal an idea, because everyone has there own games they want to make. Not to mention that it if you can out run them or its a fully free game it doesn't even matter. (because if its free you have practically nothing to lose, except maybe name some recognition). This even goes when its still just a concept. Also you don't have to show a lot to someone to show that its a real project and not just a vague future plan.

And for those who replied with nothing good to say: are you obligated to reply? have you forgotten to ask questions? It just seems like poor etiquettes. And remember "if you have nothing good to say don't say anything" especially with stuff like this.

After +- 3 months of modding my gameboy and failing multiple times with a body count of 5. After I finally finished it I made a background tune for the game I'm working one, gone overboard. Taught maybe it'll be fun to get some feed back. and then uploading is down.

No, around an hour away from it (with with the train from Kampen)

For some reason I only have a right channel when I put my headphone in my RCA to female jack port, otherwise I don't have it (not in the headphone, not in the speaker, not when I put a RCA to male jack in the RCA port and not put a male to male jack in the RCA to female jack port).
How can this even happen, and how can I fix it?
And has anyone got this before?

After some checking I noticed that the right channel is also gone in the speaker, strange...

Where are your ground and 2 audio lines coming from to the RCAs

top 2 and the ground on the lowest of the regular 5 prosound spots.

If it's not the front pcb or the back pcb, then it can only be the case itself or the output jack..

Somehow...

I forgot to check the RCA jack for stereo (my own stupidity...), it has it. So it seems to be the output jack.
