Since there's the A command, you can create a table and use it in the phrase screen, independent of the instrument, and in a few different situations.

I feel really stupid for making seperate instruments for every different arp. It seems so obvious know, I don't know why I haven't been doing this the whole time.

Another cool A command tip, mess around with some stutter tables.

OLR      OLR      OLR      OLR
------      ------      ------      ------
O----      -----       ------      ------
------      O----      ------      ------
H00       ------      O----     O----
              -----       ------      ------
              H00       ------     OLR
                            ------     O---
                            H00      H00

Put one or two of these on seperate tables, and use them on every channel as a cool gating effect. I did that a lot in this  hella old track

My favorite is this one. 'The Game Fighter'

I have a bad enough track record with one battery cover, I would manage to lose one of these 2 in maybe a week if I'm lucky.

Not owning anything that makes sound is a great way to leave headroom.

The LSDJ font replacement uses the "Kiko" slot, I wasn't sure how to rename that.

On theory: I find that people who say you don't need theory to compose music are terribly, terribly wrong. They might not think they're using it, but the very very vast majority of people who "don't know shit about theory" are still composing music that follows most "rules" of theory and make very few of those musical faux-pas associated with lacking knowledge in that area.

I think this is an important distinction. There is a big difference between saying that music theory isn't necessary and that music theory training isn't necessary. I've fumbled my way through a lot of music theory by means of trial and error. At its core music theory is a set of reasons that things sound good and if you try to make things sound good for long enough you'll start to get a feel for the more or less universal guidelines.

I can't mod for shit but these threads are always a fun read.

The easiest way is to get virtualbox and emulate a windows xp machine. The drivers install easily from there.

There is a windows 8 work around, but my experience with installing unsigned drivers on windows 7 and 8 is frustrating at best.

It's cool that teenage engineering isn't making something that costs an arm and a leg.

People keep saying this, but I don't understand what else they're supposed to do. I know nothing about marketing, so I'm legitimately curious to hear some ideas that would have been better. To me, the commercial shows a bunch of clips from videos on their site, and piques interest in visiting the site, which I think is what they want to do.

They could have some mention of what the verge is or does. It's just a few unrelated clips and then a website at the end. It is cool that chiptune is getting a tiny slice of super bowl airtime though.

Just throwing ideas out here, but maybe give an ability to upload short audio files as a preview?
