I think I'll do emulators for awhile.

You can even just skip over emulating the OS and just use a tracker that will let you work within MOD limits. You can do this in milky tracker, but the controls/layout are based on fast tracker instead.

Think of it like a piano. You can basically do the same thing and its more practical to play around on a digital electric modern things and most people won't care about the difference, but there's a certain feeling about sitting down at that piano/Amiga that sits in the corner and bash out a track.

I think of my Amiga as more of an instrument than my laptop.

One thing that's daunting: there are a bajillion versions of Protracker (Version 2.1a, version 3.X, etc.). Is there a preferred version? And is there a good tutorial for that version? (assuming there are big differences between versions...)  That is to say, if I want to learn on emulator, with the option to buy hardware down the road, what is the best route to take?

Paging Abortifacient/Illija to post their collection.

It's great. The only problem is that the slanted channel faders do make it tight up around the cut/punch buttons. But it's not like I use them heavily.

Very jelly of your mixer. I just got a SMAC32 but still want a SMAC PRO20 big_smile

I won't destroy your dreams by telling you how cheap I got it. When I found it I did a search, and one of the few references was a WTB post you made here, so I figured it was worth grabbing.

I'm not in the whole Amiga scene, so I have a question.

Like the Gameboy has a flashcart, the C64 has SD driver emulation. What do you need for the Amiga?
What kind of hardware is needed to run a 'new' tracker?

I started with three floppies from a friend - protracker boot disc, some breaks, and ST-01.
It was enough to convince me to buy a CF card and up my game.

Anyway, since we are showing off pictures, here's Peaches the Wale's Amiga. The keyboard that was in it originally wasn't working, so it's got a british keyboard instead. Also the previous owner had basically snapped the front panel off and the whole thing was held together by one screw, so the tape is both for function AND aesthetic.

Including some sick sticker mods, I might do a tutorial for this one.

There's a sampler around somewhere, but all the Amiga stuff has been pushed aside as various projects took over desk space.

Amiga isn't even *real* chiptune you n00bs! I know because of the bits.

True story - every time I've posted Peaches the Wale tracks on /r/chiptunes, it gets deleted. Meanwhile "pokemon dubstep" gets millions of upvotes.

YES.
I found you on soundcloud a while back but forgot to follow you. H.O.V.D.E.B.Y.G.D.A is a classic.

Just paint over images on the gameboy camera.

There are ways to modify/bypass this circuit (maybe I'll post these directions one day?)

I think I've still got this if you lost it. But I've yet to buy a soldering iron since my last one destroyed itself.

I think there are some differences in the post-chip audio circuit between the 600 and 1200, but TSC or Akira might be more qualified to speak here.

I remember waiting desperately with some of the other guys from treble death for that post to move from "coming soon" to an actual guide.

The whole thing becomes a lot easier when you throw a guitar over top.

I like that it seems like Korg has listened to years of "you guys need to do more shit like this" and are finally doing shit like this.

Well that's cool I guess.
The 8 step sequencer would be fun too.

I don't really see what makes this a chiptune generator though? Most oscillators that have square waves also have a pulse width control.

The real questions is, $75?

He set us up the bomb, I'm not sure what happened after that.
