Sounds like it's the wave channel cycling through different waveforms each frame.

What about XPMCK?  http://jiggawatt.org/muzak/xpmck/

NM, OH, IL,  On the Fritz, Nin-Nin Hall, Floating Point, and Spaxe!

Sounds cool, I'll try to make it.

I download xpmck, but my PC (Win XP) not open it, what else can I download to make MML (for gameboy)?

XPMCK is the only way to make gameboy music via MML
Your PC should open it fine!  You might need to read the manual.  I'd be happy to help if you still can't get it working.

looks like you don't need a serial port... there's a usb adapter too (xu1541)

So you can use xu1541 + opencbm for mac

The c64 is able to run d64 files.  But don't get a usb floppy drive -- like goto80 says, it won't work with 1581 disks.
I transfer d64s from my PC to c64 diskettes using a cable that connects the 1581 to an adapter attached to the parallel port on my PC
(XM1541 or XA1541 adapters will work).

I use a program called  'opencbm' to do the transferring.

what are the advantages of using MML to make gameboy music as compared to using something like lsdj?

i understand lsdj has a lot of interactive features and if you made mml into a gameboy rom that it would lack those features, but let's ignore that. i have no mml experience but i've heard you can do more with it.

You can cross compile your source code to a different platform with relatively little effort.  You can also have a much larger sample bank as you don't have to worry about anything being built into an LSDJ ROM, the samples are just kept in a folder in your workspace.  You also are not restricted to a tracker-like environment for your composition which is a god-send for some of us.  Also, it's worth mentioning that there is very little that you can do in LSDJ that you can't do in XPMCK due to my request of waveform macros which allows LSDJ-style waveform changes.

Alas, XPCMK doesn't support samples for gameboy... yet?
