Maybe I haven't really dug deep enough (I'm still along the surface), but I can't really find anyone else (beside my close friends) who messes chip within the NYC area.

I've rolled up with my Roland Street Cube to various places such as, public parks, local conventions (i.e. NYCC), but no cigar.
:'C

Seriously? Yeah, I'd say you haven't looked hard enough. Nyc has bit shifter, nullsleep, glomag, minusbaby, bubblyfish, exilefaker, l-tron, ricky brugal, etc etc.... dozens of chip musicians in nyc

It is funny how there are a ton of us here though. I played in ska bands as a kid, I just don't have as much desire to get up in front of people anymore. I'd much rather be a hermit. big_smile

All good to know, just moved to Chicago

i left last year (though for now that just means me being near rockford, so im still in illinois)

the firmware stuff for psp's is really easy now, not anywhere near as much work as it was 6-7 years ago so i wouldnt let that hold you back if you find a good deal on a pspgo.. good luck though, pspgo is a very nice unit for piggy with 16GBs of internal flash memory for huge samplelib smile

lol at anything on 8bp being "obscure"

i'd just post it in the releases... from the description, its chip enough that no one will mind (at least no one who matters)

i'd say that chiptune or chipmusic isn't really a genre anyway... for purposes of this site, music that has chip elements (even emulated) or with sample based trackers is generally considered fair to upload or post about on here (exceptions exist, but are more along the lines of someone doing something where any chip elements are very minor, not just that you used other instruments along with it)...

can't say off the top of my head who used lsdj on which releases, but for darker chip stuff Datathrash is always a good bet

BRB calling Mark Mothersbaugh to make sure he's cool with it

The 8bit Operators pulled off a whole compilation. I think we're ok.

Jeremy spends a good amount of money clearing the rights for each 8bit operators compilation on top of just asking for permission

e.s.c can probably link you to more of his work

most of his stuff isn't online anywhere.. looks like i have 57 songs and 3 full live sets of his stuff (besides the live sets of his that have video of and just haven't exported audio from)
edit: changed 59 to 57, saw i have two duplicates in the folder
i might have more than that, because i have a few cds of his that i have no tracklisting for and havent gone through thoroughly
