Wow, I used to go to the Blind Pig and see ska bands when I was like 17 big_smile...I'm not in Michigan anymore but thats cool you got something going there...come to Chicago! smile I seriously don't have a dime to spare right now, but maybe I'd help you guys with some ANSI art if you'd like..

Wondering if anyone can help me nail the lead sound in Return of Samus surface song (the one in the first area)...this video has a chunk of the original and then my lsdj version. I'm pretty experienced with trackers (mostly NES) but I'm somewhat new to LSDJ and thought I'd try to recreate a song I know to start with, but I just can't quite nail the wav sound.

Whenever I make complex wave sounds they sound kind of chunky and just not smooth...like when you have a block step thing going on a synth. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, the phrase is just the notes playing, I dont see what commands could help. I'd really love some constructive feedback.

Here's a video of the original for a moment, and then my attempt...every channel sounds good but the wave...

Been loving the stuff I'm getting in this forum, I'm gobbling up loads of chiptune I didn't know about (was pretty much operating in a void until recently)...

I have been listening to battleofthebits.org's radio station for quite some time and enjoying it, but I was wondering if there is a more comprehensive chiptune radio station out there on the net? last.fm and pandora just kind of has a random smattering of ok and lousy stuff...

maybe the key isnt a netlabel but something else that could help the community in some way.

I saw the blog suggestion which is not a bad idea. Maybe you could try a web radio show. Or something else that hasnt been done yet. There's plenty of things that could help artists/fans get on the same page that no one tried yet. Think about it!

A podcast or an intenret radio station would be cool. I'm always listening to Botb's radio but thats limited to their battle entries...

The Depreciation Guild kind of flirted with shoegaze chiptune, but blending those two genres is still a vastly unexplored territory with tons of potential...

It reminds me of Megaman X more than anything. McBonus Break and Puzzle Piece are my favorites. I keep listening to it when I'm at the gym, it's awesome for that.

I wrote a little review up on my blog.

will your netlabel do more than just host the albums? if not then i suggest you dont even bother starting one.

Agreed. Start a blog and review the myriad of chiptune releases. Something like that might be more useful...

Take my money now!

My band Toriningen is currently sat on a chip infused alt-rock album. Just need it mastered and to get some art work.
