Where can I find the OmniCore program? I would like to have a sound like this, but all my Google searches go to some health group...

That's my fault. it's omniSphere. I should mention he said he made custom configs for it, so it doesn't sound like this out of the box.

The entire OST is amazing, although I'm not at liberty to share it. It was a kickstarter gift which he gave even though his KS failed. It's like my aspirational NES RPG soundtrack.

I was going thru some old files and I found this. It was a kickstarter from a few years back. The game never did come out. But I thought it was interesting to see a well known orchestral composer's take on 8-bit chip music.

I was talking to him a long time ago and he said he used OmniCore to make it. I thought it was interesting to hear the approach of someone without all the background of chip. and man, that overworld map theme is gorgeous.

thanks for sharing. i kind of always wondered, who he was or if he's active in any way...

Glad to hear your feeling optimistic. It sounds like you been through a lot. Best thing you can do is take away for your future...look at what you contributed to things with your relationship... did all this bad stuff happening poison all your interaction with her with negativity?  work on yourself. learn something new, work out, change things up, it's not gonna get better over night but your only options are focus all this into something, or sit around and get worse.

weird thing that has helped me with major/unexpected/depressing changes...new music..not just making it. look into new styles. find something new to inspire you. i suggest post rock if you're not into that, it seems to be overall uplifting and contemplative.

I recently did some tracks on vgmmm, created a rom with the music and played it on a chinese everdrive. It sounds great.

that seems like the route i'll probably have to go. thanks!

I haven't experienced this on soundcloud.  if you are making a "loud" track, i.e. for the radio or something, always turn the master out volume down to -0.03db. Meaning if your song peaks at 0db, it now really peaks at -0.03db (imperceptible to the ears), this will kill a lot of artifacts when you upload to something like soundcloud and it converts it to 128 or worse.

i should say, I don't mix SUPER loud tracks, i like there to by some dynamics/headroom left, but here's one DJ Cutman did using the -0.03db trick and there is really no artifacts that I can hear.

Have you seen fmdrive ?
It's MIDI mapping is the same as GenMDM in case we ever do end up with the hardware.

Edit: Deflemask can also export a ROM to playback on a flashcart.

Something like this?

Hi Everyone,
forgive me if this info is here somewhere already but a cursory search didn't lead me to anything definitive. I got a commission to do a iOs game soundtrack in the style of the Sega Genesis. I did a small demo using VOPM and drum samples from various Sega Games. It's nice but I want to make some legit stuff, possibly using the console. I've used VGM Maker before and have a decent grasp on FM synthesis. The Gen MDM looks like exactly what I want, but, unless I've been looking in all the wrong places, it seems like my only chance to get one of those is to watch eBay and pay big money. So my question is, are there other options out there? Even if it's making a track in a tracker and somehow putting it on a cartridge or some sort of cartridge interface. It looks like there's a lsdj-style tracker in the works, but i'm not sure when that'd be out. Ideally, I'd like something that treats it like a hardware synth where I can midi out / audio back in.

Thanks in advance!

i like it. its very smooth for lsdj, no sounds that get on my nerves after a while (even in songs i like)

somehow i missed #3, but i think i'll put something together for #4...

Don't waste money on something you're not sure you'll use.  Get a $10 game boy from ebay or craigslist and try it out first.

Or use BGB and get the rom for $2 tongue

that is probably the best way to start. then cheap gameboy, then good one and drag n derp or something like that. i like the backlit gameboy just for playing games too though.

it depends on how much you enjoy tinkering with stuff. i'd love to, but don't have the tools or time. and I'm also worried I'd break it.
