So my current plan is lsdj on a gameboy, famitracker on my little linux netbook, and then transferring those over to nes file possibly using famislayer synced with the gameboy. I just ordered the nes on ebay and it said it won't power on. I have my theories what the problem is but I won't know for sure till it arrives tongue

Sorry about that, but yeah, that's how you do it, you do a direct link to the image, rather than lets say, the page it's on. And no, it can be in any format as far as I know.

Dont bother with pocket music. It is a waste of monies. Have you considered using a ds? if so nitro tracker has a lot of power. For gba try fat

I just did a little look-up of nitrotracker and to be honest it sounds a bit too synth-y for my tastes, thanks for the suggestion though.

The latest version of FAT I was able to get my hands on is v0.2.0 which seems to have a lot missing from it - would that still be what you'd suggest?

How was this stuff like, originally made anyway?

nitrotracker isn't synthy at all, it's all sample based

what a scary thought

sletchman3 does some uke stuff aswell iirc

Also I forgot to post this at the time, but last summer when I asked my grandad if I could borrow his camera to take some pictures for an album, I thought it would be a good idea to explain why I was. He seemed very interested and said "You see, someone like me thinks guitar, makes sound and is therefore an instrument, I'm amazed at the kind of people who went games consoles, makes sound, can be used as an instrument" and seemed to enjoy the idea of it. He doesn't really do electronic music as a whole, so I doubt he'd really like much of the music.

I finally got this together. The buttons aren't entirely matching, but the pattern is complete now that I found a green cartridge shell...

How did you manage to get a green cart the same as the original colour? The only green cart I've seen was the one Deerpresident was selling a while back, and that was more tennisball green.

Rules? Sampling from a song isn't that difficult. Give a SPECIFIC song and more or less WHERE in the song the sound is and I'll rip it for you. Fuckit, name a couple of songs and the sounds you'd like and I'll make a Scrill-eggs (for copyright reasons, obviously) sample pack. Sampling from a mostly sampled genre seems pretty pointless though, just my opinion.

I was thinking of the growls as I don't have ableton or FL or something that costs 2.3 million so I can use Massive or FM8 to make it. If I did have the money, I would buy said programs. Anyway I mostly talking about Scary Monsters and Scary Bolly Dub with the growls and drop on that.

dude, just make the growls yourself, I never thought I'd be posting these before I'd actually managed to make something out of them, but these are some growls made entirely in the pig.
Growl made by messing with values of the noise sample from starpause's nitrotracker samplepack
gupgupgup thing I'm not entirely sure what this is actually called but yeah, I cut up a voice sample, and repeated a small amount of it, I messed with the settings that make it crunchy and shit.
totally not a wip song again, used the starpause noise sample, all editing done in piggy itself.

region free? looks like I'm going to have to buy an NES as well then!
