Had to take a break from mods.
Got a job helping with the design of the new gamer's lounge at Level Up Video Games in Santa Cruz.
The guy that owns the place (Jerry) is always interested in my input, and likes to bounce ideas off of me. This has been an excellent collaboration, and he wants to have it installed in April... I think I can have it ready by mid February.
I get to do interior design at a video game store? It's a gay nerd's dream job!
(I'm also in the middle of commission work... so hit me up if you're interested)
Top 10 (in no particular order)
Portal (series)
Half-Life (series)
Pole Position (arcade)
Kunio Dodgeball (Famicom)
Chip's Challenge (Lynx)
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Sonic 2 (Genesis)
Dirt (series)
Gran Turismo (series)
Psychonauts (Xbox)
But, like most gamers, I have about 150 games in my top 10.
Bump so I can get a new battery and camera mount for my GoPro.
Okay. I had to spend the entire day hauling, splitting, and stacking firewood...
Here's what I'm up to right now:
Rearranging parts inside R4G3 QU!T to make room for some mods.
Going to experiment with the interior lighting (the final version will have amber LEDs in there, this is just for figuring out where to put them.)
Have a Happy Holiday.

Obligatory FTFY
You guys are too kind.
I hope you guys still like it when it's done.
I call it 'Splosion.
Dual prosound (1/4" jack is a dongle). Backlit screen.
Nothing amazing, but still very useable, and certainly not boring.
SOLD!
This is going the chiptune route.
Drilled hole, introduced stereo jack... It'll look sick once I get some lights in there.
I think this is a good place to stop on the battery door.
Looks good... gotta avoid overdoing it, and ruining the whole look of the piece.
The back seemed a little boring. I didn't want to carve holes in that half of the case (not yet at least) because shaping the clear acrylic for the curved surface is a pain in the ass... So I went with a little battery door action.
BEHOLD!
EDIT: Better shot of the work on the door. Just remember that it's not done yet, and that more carving and a bunch of cleanup work will be done.
Yeah. If there's gonna be a CGB lighting kit, some additional information wold be awesome.
This is still my dream clone.
Game Fighter!
I tried out those silicone buttons.
Yeah, they're pretty fuckin' awesome. I thought they might be weird (and they kinda were) but they feel great! Played Link's Awakening, Kirby, and R-type for a few hours, and didn't get any hotspots on my thumbs. My only concern (and it's a small one) is that they'll wear out like the square buttons on my Famicom, but other than that, no complaints. Haven't tried them on my NES controller yet.
Unless you're some sort of hard button purist; you should totally get a set.
UPDATE:
They don't work very well in the NES controller.
I have clear acrylic that's going over the holes, the inside is going to be illuminated.
Should it be for chip or game?
OPINION TIME!
So I have this one. I call it R4G3 QU!T. I'm just about done carving (few more details and some cleanup work) and I'm getting it ready for paint...
Should it just be for playing games, or should I mod the shit out of it?
