Hi everyone -

Proud to announce Chiptune Cares:  A Mixtape for Philly!  100% of the profits to Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium, a great org here in Philly helping the larger community get tested and vaccinated.

The album is a "mixtape" in the true sense of the word - I asked artists to submit ANY track from their library (new, old, released, etc).  Over 20 artists submitted.  The result is awesome - a great mix of diverse tracks across chiptune's past, present, and future!

We have some goals set too for the charity work -

$1000 – I will pitch in an additional $200
50 paid sales – anonymous donor pitches in additional $100
75 paid sales – HangOnGetReady pitches in additional $100

At the moment, we are near $700 with 45 paid sales!  Even a $1 sale counts as a paid sale --- so every little bit counts.

Thanks everyone!

The show starts at 7pm, and very pleased to say it will be ALL AGES(!), and tickets are $7-$10. Schedule of events below:

We will kick things off with an informative workshok at 7pm (stay tuned for announcement wink ), followed by open mic at 8pm (five minutes/one song max.) as it tradition, and dive right into the show at 9pm.

Visual Performance

PixelSeed (BAL)
Fresh off this year’s MAGFest visualist circuit, Baltimore’s Pixelseed aka Sean Smith, is a man dedicated to his craft. Combining elements of animation, original film footage, and circuit-bent electronics and channeling it all through his more than twenty years of experience, Pixelseed goes above and beyond to ensure his visual creations match the musician he is paired with not just in terms of timing, but in mood and style.

Performers

Cheap Dinosaurs (PHL)
Cheap Dinosaurs will be performing an all video game cover set as their alter-egos Autoscroll. MAGfest 2016 marked their resurgence after 3 years with a performance and release of a new demo:

L-Tron (NYC)
L-tron completed his first symphony at the age of 2 using only a touch tone phone and a Yak Bak. For decades he has steeped his dance music in a bouquet of filth. Today, he has no choice but to lick his cartridges clean before each set. Smear a bucket of melted Tamagotchis to create progressive house music, and you’re listening to L-Tron. His melodies will awaken lush visions, blowing the dust off your forgotten daydream. Possessing you with dirty drops, Megaman’s dick, and lowest intentions… you’ll lose your shit and never get it back.

FLOOR BABA (OH)
FLOOR BABA is a jazz fusion artist and ex-game composer based out of Youngstown, Ohio. He also curates the netlabel and online music venue DESKPOP.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL OUT THERE!

Thanks and let me know what you think!

[SOLVED] - someone did this in order to fix a busted trace.  Weird to find something like this at a flea market, though!

Hey so I bought an NES at a flea market.  Opened it up to clean and mod and what not and found this mod already in place.  I have no clue why anyone would want to do this and I've never seen anything like it.

It's PIN17 (it appears to be) of the Expansion Port hooked to one of the PINs from the SN74HC368N.  The system itself is busted (definitely needs a new 72 PIN connector) so I can tell if has any effect.  I was just so surprised to buy a random console that seemed to be already modded - especially a console modded in a way I've never seen before.

Thanks guys.  It installed without a hitch!  Sounds really great too.  It really was super simple.  I had a bit of trouble cutting the tabs out of the floor of the console (my cutter is pretty dull) but other than that, no other problems.  Now to get this potentiometer installed for the expansion audio and I'm in business smile

Hi guys!  I have all my gear prepped and I will be attempting to install this beauty into my NES-001.

I've read all the relevant threads here about this mod (at length) and I have the website guide/video but I was just wondering if you guys have an individual tips or tricks in terms of installing it.

More specifically, it seems incredibly straight forward but I was just wondering if you guys with more experience with these kinds of things may have come across any minor complications and/or you think there's a slightly better way to do it than mentioned in the previous threads (many of which are from 2011 or so).

Thanks guys!

(artwork by Joey Mariano - animal-style.com)

In his debut album "The Last Dream", Ap0c uses Famicom audio to explore our subconscious triumphs and failures. This carefully crafted collection of odes and elegies will open our inner most emotional vaults and reveal to us the common truths of what we didn't know we knew.

Created using jsr's Famitracker 0.4.2 with 2a03 and VRC6.  Tested (AV Famicom + Everdrive N8) and plays off console.

Hi folks!

I recently completed the OST to Division Fourteen's upcoming game, Signature Strike.  It's full of 2a03+VRC6 sidescrolling shooter nostalgia and relentless triple meter.

Signature Strike OST

Great, I emailed him.  I'll update here what he says.  This is exciting.  I hope he can do it.  Thanks for you help, Delek.  I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I've realized that I've been using the wrong thing after I posted this (The SN76489 to PCE file).  Wasn't really sure how or why it was working that way but I've had to explained to me, so yeah, that's my mistake there.  I'm sorry for the confusion.

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way using I can map the VGM files I'm exporting from Deflemask successfully to an HES file that will playback on my hardware, mainly or better yet, come up with another alternative based on the export from Deflemask.

I have all the TG-16 hardware needed for playback and I'm willing to try anything you guys can come up with if you want to test it.  Please let me know!  Thanks again and I appreciate your responses, Delek.

Update:  I tried using the converter on files I exported via Deflemask as VGMs.  It will actually compile and read a .PCE ROM image that has the name of my track, date, my name, etc but it will not playback audio.  I've tried playing any of the TG-16 VGMs I've exported via Deflemask on any of the known VGM players and all I get is silence.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?  The example track (the Chuck Rock file) actually DOES compile on my TG-16 hardware on my screen, as advertised.  Any tracks I try to use that I've exported via Deflemask as a VGM, though, do not.

Cool!  Looking forward to the update!  My Turbo Everdrive should be here soon so I'll do some tests to see what it sounds like when converted from VGM (non technical of course).  Thanks!
