sweet! That's all I needed to know. Gonna look into getting a decent gameboy mod. Thanks man.

..and thanks again for all the info guys!
been a great help!

Awesome! Thanks for all the replies guys. This is awesome. I guess i'll have to get saving for a modded gameboy as my soldering and electronics skills are not so great... at all haha

One more question;
Forgive me if I've completely missed something here, but whilst viewing Jefftheworlds's video of his jam session, I noticed all the sounds -minus the kick drum (i think)- were 8bit sounds being run through the modulators of the volcas etc. Is it possible to have it so you just write the sequence in lsdj, but use the analog sounds of the volca keys?
Basically I want to use lsdj as a sort of midi sequencer for the volca.

If that comes with the deal of the rest, then I am definitely going to be spending money when I shouldn't be tongue

Thanks again for all the responses!

p.s
That jam was amazing, jefftheworld! It's made me hungry for more hardware!!!

Hi there, it's been awhile since i've posted here!
I've done a bit of research on on this, and am aware that you're able to trigger the korg volca keys and bass with the gameboy (using lsdj and nanoloop)
But I was wondering if it were possible to use the sequencer in lsdj to write melodies/ basslines for the korg volcas.
I would have tested this myself, but as I don't have a very stable gameboy the connection is quite weak already - even for just triggering the volca keys.

If this is possible, or can be made possible, I think this coud open up a whole new way of working with miniature hardware synths.

Thanks for reading,
and my apologies if this has been covered already

Good to hear that it's good!
Although I already knew the standard procedure for installing VSTs I appreciate the help anyways big_smile

The Mac OSX download comes with 3 .vst files for some reason. I dragged them to the vst folder but nothing happens.
I'm beginning to think that maybe the Mac Version isn't compatible with Logic Pro 9.

Well, thanks again for the help
Hopefully someone will figure it out smile

Hey, I just stumbled across this YM2413 Emulator and couldn't find any topics on it here so I thought I would post it. I don't know it's old or new or what, but it sounds awesome. I've been trying to get the mac version go work, but so far I have no idea how to install it.
If anyone knows how, I would really like to know.

enjoy

Hey Jophish, your stuff is great man. I like it!
I haven't really written any chiptune stuff in awhile. I still tend to use a couple of elements every now and then, but I've been making a lot of stuff that isn't very chiptune.
Have a listen if you wish.

I know this is probably a lost cause but...
I really want this project to happen!! I don't know anything about building trackers, but I would be happy to do anything to help someone build this. Maybe help with the graphics??? I could make it look all nice and sega-ry, haha

Great idea! I've learnt so much already

Despite you don't like DefleMask, it seems to be your best option:
True Genesis sound, ROM exporting feature, .bin (RAW SMPS dump) .tfi (TFM Music Maker format) .y12 (GENS KMod dump) .ins (MVS Tracker format) .vgi (VGM Music Maker format) presets support and Windows, Linux and Mac version.

It is as intuitive as FastTracker II, many people accustomed to it back in the day are feeling at home with DefleMask. You should take more time with it, after a while the speed and the understanding of how to make sounds grows exponentially.

Sorry but I love DefleMask heart tongue

I actually really enjoy deflemask, my main problems are the BPM and Octive functions along side the pattern layout. I read the manual, but it doesn't seem to be so clear on how to configure the BPM and other things (unless I'm just being stupid).

I've been recording .tfi and .ins instruments to .wav and using them as samples in Milkytracker. Once I've finished what I'm working on, maybe I'll give deflemask another shot.

Thanks for the all the suggestions and info guys

Is this native sega tracker project still going? Or am I just necroposting?

I've searched high and low for this today, so I'm pretty sure this isn't possible besides playing the sounds off the .tfi or .ins files in a program like VGM MM (for example) and recording them to a .wav manually.

The reason I ask this, is that I am unable to run VGM MM and TFM smoothly from my mac. I'm slowly getting to grips with DefleMask but (no offence Delek) it's not very intuitive like other trackers and is a bit of a mess. My tracker of choice is MilkyTracker. I've been playing with little scales sega samples on it, but they're just not what I'm looking for in comparison to the instruments I've been getting and messing with in DefleMask, VGM and TFM.

Could anyone enlighten me on this matter? Or better yet have some magical technique to run said files (.tfi / .ins) in milkytracker or any other mac compatible tracker?
Or will I have to record all my sounds manually?

Thanks for your time. And sorry in advance if this is a stupid question...

Sorry, I must have completely missed that.
I still seem to be having a problem though. I moved the libSDL-1.2.0.dylib and DefleMask into /lib and it's gotten me a little closer to getting the tracker running. It starts to open up and then it quits unexpectedly. Do I literally just move the libSDL-1.2.0.dylib file and DefleMask file into /lib, or am I supposed to being moving the whole DefleMask folder with everything inside it into /lib?

Thanks for the help so far!

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong part of the forums to post in for this. I'm have a bit of trouble getting DefleMask to run on my MacBook.
I looked at the FAQ on the official site about it, but I didn't find it clear enough.
I have the same problem as the one below and then one extra.

"Q: On my Mac OS X I get "Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libSDL-1.2.0.dylib" and DefleMask won't start, why?

A: You have to move libSDL-1.2.0.dylib file included with DefleMask to usr/local/lib to correctly load the Library."

I can't seem to find usr/local/lib

I did a search on my computer and located a lib folder that came with deflmask and tried moving said files into it but I still have the same problem.
Am I missing something and being stupid?

If anyone has an answer I would really appreciate it.

Or any suggestions for some Sega Genesis VSTs for Milkytracker would be even better!

Thanks in advance
