can you do a real quick check on something about the cart?

on the back of the plastic, towards the bottom of the case, you should see a # code melted/stamped into the plastic.

what is the code?  this will date the assembly of the cartridge, some assemblies had some issues but they were a while ago.  just want to check.

if the date code is old enough, the PCB revision could even be a later one.  if you get a code that is dated for 2012 (it'll have a 12 in the code), and if you want to open up your cartridge case, look on the top right of the PCB.  you'll see a PCB revision mark there.

the latest revision should be 11.  i've not had a bad cart in a batch yet from PCB revision 11.  could be coincidence though.

google "27c256", thats what you need.

they'll come in PLCC and DIP package types.  get the DIP package.

you can get this package in two type, ones that are OTP (one-time-programmable), or UV erasable.  The erasable ones you'll need device for, or build a UV setup yourself, or even let the IC sit where it gets un-UV-filtered light for a couple weeks.  i've used the UV cleaning thing on my electric toothbrush stand to erase one before, its just a UV bulb in there.  took a few cycles for it to work, but it did.

in short: look for 27c256, DIP package, with a UV window if you want to reprogram them later.

or, 27c256, DIP package, OTP version if you don't plan on reprogramming them.

i can get to the site fine in firefox  smile

me too, on different computers with different operating systems, with different revisions of ff....

but, thats the only common thing i can find when people tell me its down (which, when i'm told this, it never is for me or anyone else, its on their end).

i'm sort of wondering if the content of the site, or the meta tags, are flagging the site as contraband electronics or something.  flash cart stuff is iffy sometimes.  but, i'd expect a more broad geographic block then through whatever central filter catches me...  and that isn't happening either.  just single instances.  like bigcartel is hiccuping.

its annoying though.

just occurred to me!!!!!

if you have issues getting onto the store website (still haven't figured this out, apart from firefox sucking), the KB facebook page has a built-in store, you can do your shopping through it.

hope thats a solution for now!

forgot to post the store itself, not just me

out-of-the-box

dunno.  i have a hunch you need not only the EMS multi-ROM menu, but also the EMS software to reformat everything into a larger aggregate ROM.  so, this wouldn't work for the ziegler design either, because the EMS software is proprietary to their products.  it won't write/erase the ROM on the other designs.  it only has limited SRAM function.

eurorack.

doing this wink

anything based off the ziegler-hosted 'two polish students' design can only handle one ROM.

this includes the bleepbloop, smartboy, and apeshit cart designs.

the only currently manufactured cart which out-of-the-box works with multi ROMs are the EMS carts.

12ianma, good call.  forgot about the emerger carts.  they haven't been made in a while (unfortunately, i think there are a lot of fans here).  they have the coolest shape of all too!

not sure about the bung x-changer carts.  they may have a multi-ROM menu as well.

the derp carts also only can handle one ROM.

its for a single ROM

as far as i'm aware, the EMS 64M carts are the only ones which support multiple ROMs out of the box.

yeah.  this is soooo good.  thankyouthankyouthankyou!   (i was packing up during this set hmm )

re: the browser issues, i really have no idea what it could be.

i can't tell if you have noscript installed, or another sort of security add-on.  there is a bit of javascript happening (some of which was weeded out a couple weeks ago), so it could be that.  and, bigcartel sites won't work if javascript is disabled.   but if thats the case then you should get a message instead of the server not being found.

does anyone else know what this could be?  i've tried to see if its bigcartel downtime when people contact me, everything i can think of.  no dice.  just rarely in the last couple months someone will message saying they can't get on the site.

hmm
