is the music database not available anywhere for wget?  archived somewhere for posterity?  or is it too late for that...  (i ask the more clever-than-i people)

And are the Carts USB-able?

unless he changed around the cases, no they aren't.  they are the 32M Smart Cards (the model prior to the 64M USB model), just judging by the case (and the LSDJ version, which was the stable version around the time when 32M carts were last the main carts people used)

acetone degrades the structure of plastic, sort of eats it away.  this allows the dye to take hold within the plastic itself.  acetone dying only dyes the top layer of plastic, whatever the acetone has 'softened' up to accept the dye.  think of it as tooth enamel and a soft drink...  the acid in the drink eats away at the enamel, allowing particulates into the tooth where otherwise it'd be protected, then discoloration can happen or all sorts of things.

the recipe varies but is essentially a mix of HOT water (the hotter the better/quicker the dye takes), acetone, and the dye.  rit dye comes in liquid and powder, if you use the powder make sure to wear a mask.  its very fine, and you'll breath it in and have colored snot for a day or so.  i did black and it really freaked me out until i realized what had happened.

also, acetone is a carcinogen.  a mask is called for anyways.  lastly, rit dye will stain most anything!  its a cruel bugger.  it can stain a sink also, especially when the misture has acetone in it (and if your sink has a porous surface, you've just colored your sink).

this google search should help out, the recipe and approach is basically the same: https://www.google.com/search?q=rit+ace … =firefox-a

edit: i forgot another important thing....

acetone lowers the boiling temperature of water.  so, if your water is near boiling, pouring in the acetone will cause it to boil a little until the energy works itself out.  this can cause a little splashing.  so, keep this in mind and be aware of the surrounding area so you don't end up with splashed spots of color on teh counter-top.

doing this all outside is preferable, on a hot day if possible.  it helps the mixture keep from cooling so rapidly.

and, very very lastly i think, acetone will not melt or eat at aluminum, the cheap baking pans in the grocery store are perfect for this.  do NOT use a plastic bowl/vessel, the mixture will eat through it (like it does any plastic).  well, not 'eat through it', more or less degrade the molecular structure of the plastic...

request botht eh mouser and digikey catalogs.  they're free.  if you are navigating on the websites, you'll overlook some stuff they have.  the company "alpha wire" is what mouser carries if i recall right, its very good wire.  and, 100' spools like you mention.

but they do have smaller spools (i've ordered them), check a different color or coating material.  alpha wire does a few coating styles, and colors, and mouser doesn't carry all the spool sizes for all the colors and types.  the magazines will help with this...  soooo much easier to navigate.

alternatively, radioshack location which still have the little electronics component section have hookup wire.  i've used them before in emergencies, i needed 24 gauge then however, but i would bet they've got smaller for you.  too small a wire can  be the source of signal degradation.  its also important sometimes to get a good quality wire for some applications as the material adds a natural resistance, and better materials/thicker wire less.  sort of like using too thin a wire on big speakers...  but, for gameboy shouldn't matter.  just for the future...  the wire needs to be a bit longer than a few inches too, for the resistance to add up to anything important in applications like this wink

hope that helps a little

you can get printable decal sheets in the model car section of your local hobby shop, or where they keep the paint for plastic models.  they should have inkjet types there, they aren't too expensive at all.  'testors' paint company makes some i believe (testers possibly, i don't remember)

hand painted

you can help in every way big_smile

do you know the material, manufacturer, thickness, etc of the material?  i mean...  do you all use the same type stuff, or is it a big mess of trash and this info is lost?

the only concern i'd have is if it was PERFECT, but there wasn't any way of finding what out what 'it' is...

yeah....  pick some up whenever you can of some various colors and things, and i'd love to try it out.  even if you don't know the info on it, it'd be a great way to test a new approach in all this...

thanks so much!  thats very kind of you!  when you get some gathered, PM and we'll work out a trade for it smile

(hot topic's radio is set by district corporate office totally...  its cool you all have in-store control for other devices.  my GF used to manage a hot topic, she's mentioned a couple times how long it took corporate to get stuff they requested added to the list.  forever unless it was on mtv or about to be.  or chiodos)

this is a good idea though.  the risk you run is that you'll grow to despise the songs if you have to hear them repeatedly during your work hours tongue

contrast is excellent, imo.  its still the basic principle as LED backlighting (light source, then polarization, then the LCD).  looks just like the contrast on a white LED backlight except completely even lighting.

i think its easier to read myself, as there is zero hotspotting or distortions at all...

the green LED backlights do have an amazing contrasting effect though.  putting a green color film on these didn't test so well, however i think i'm going to just drop using the material i've been trying for adding colors.  some other colors don't look good at all.  there are other materials I have yet to try.  although, i'm not sure if the contrasting effect on a green EL backlight would echo that on a green LED one, it hasn't so far.  apart from the hum associated with EL tech, i prefer these in all ways over the LED ones (any color).

i'm all up for answering questions on them, play the advocate some more!

(i should just mention as a general tip: the way the screen looks changes a bit (as does the brightness) depending on whether the diffusion film is on the top or the bottom of the polarization film.  they just look slightly different, both ways have its advantage though.  i'm not sure if i'll include diffusion film with the kits, they don't really need it because the lighting is already even.  i just wanted to mention this to anyone keeping up with the thread to experiment if they wish.  our diffusion film is a bit more than just a diffusion layer, this is the cause of these changes...  other stuff is going on as well i just have neglected to fully explain)

i got these before acekard did the anticlone sticker stuff.  (which seems to have begun ~march last year).  they are real acekard though.  all of these will need the firmware updates to the newer AKAIO as well, they are stock how I bought them back then.  shouldn't be an issue though.

the only reason i even got these was because thretris (or possibly capcomposer), who was into DS homebrew at the time, told me they were really great cards and worked very nicely, and i got them from a store getting rid of their stock (just bought their stock out).  then, i decided ds flashcarts were too risky business and i didn't want to mess with them.  so, they sat in a drawer waiting until i did some inventory/cleaning.  i'm saving one for myself but after these i don't really have an interest in them.  not atm at least.  give it 15 years or so...
