this is how i've done mine in the past, its louder than post-pot at max volume.  thats the only difference really.  you loose the ability to control volume from the gameboy, but get a slight volume boost.

the select/start buttons have the original silicon membrane below, so the action is almost the same.  the weight of the metal isn't enough on top to have an impact on the bounce-back.

the silver on the select/start buttons are basically a cap.  below the shell of the gameboy its still the silicon.  the tops of the silicon buttons are replaced only.

works really well.  i'm not sure the material quBit used to get it to all stay together, some sort of an adhesive that will hold metal and silicon i guess.  i can't really see any, but its a very tight and solid fit.  i'm assuming an adhesive...

got the buttons in the mail today...

i'm not hugely into reviews, but these really deserve it...  really gorgeous.  quBit has talent.  the polish on them is smooth all the way across, no ripples at all in the finish, and the molding is top notch (better than the plastic handcast buttons even, and in metal this is impressive for sure).  rough texture totally taken off EACH button is stamped with the silver content (if you care about resell in the future or whatever).

a very talented metalsmith (not sure the correct term).

silver isn't everyone's cup-of-tea, so other metals might suit you better.  they are kitschy, but thats even better (for me at least, and i do like buttons).  truly beautiful, they really are...  the only issue i can possibly think of is the tarnishing, but with a cheapo silver cloth if they get dirty a single swipe across lifts it all up...  not a big deal at all.  and those cloths are very cheap.

very professional.  very very actually.

the link port cover even snaps in wink  really great job with the casting and cleaning!

thanks so much quBit!  really happy about these wink

can't wait to see other metal types and more silver types!  and whatever else you've got cooking with your metalsmithing.

or, whatever you've got smelting i should say wink

indeed.  CPU swaps wink  cool...

hello everybody -

been meaning to get these done for a while, and a recent CM.org post jogged my memory (thanks m00dawg!).  better late than never...

http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/capacitor-kits

pdf and powerpoint format installation guides are up as well.

the aluminum electrolytic capacitors inside many a video game console are past their expected use-periods.  after a while the capacitance value will change, meaning your console isn't functioning up to specs.  these are convenient kits for replacing all these parts inside your DMG.

this includes the caps for the main PCB, the LCD PCB, the power supply PCB, as well as the headphone PCB.

the DMG kits have been tested with the following:

DMG-CPU: 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08
DMG-LCD: 05, 06

the power supply PCBs vary between revisions but all have been accounted for in the kit.

the headphone PCBs are the same throughout the revisions.

till next time, keep chipping!  NES kits next wink

i get ROM flashing requests for these quite a bit actually wink  cool machines, been looking for one on the cheap for the GF.

cool in the sense of, 'wow, what a pointless thing to do with a gameboy'

wink

in theory, everything should work fine.  the power supply is the iffy bit...  with wall-wart, battery, USB, or gamelink power possibilities i want to do a bit of stress testing...  and see if i can kill it. because if it can be done people will do it.

and almost everything is a new footprint in my library for this project, yikes!

toss in a fair bit of adhd and you've got fun times.

the link ports aren't being made anymore...

i sent off an arduinoboard design to the fab house 2 days ago, so yes and no to get to the last question...  not yet, i guess i what i should say.  just need to test the new features.  wink  then yes.

haha, i actually sourced these and had everything to go, put them into a box when school got crazy last fall, and haven't gotten them back out again (cap-kits)...

i'll make a post-it and pull them out and get those done, i managed to find the weird sizes and everything...

it probably would help, yes.  the caps are out-of-date now, on the play it louds even (this year, if one uses the typical 15 year life)

*makes note on hand*

not sure what that game is though.

You've never seen a pokemon gameboy game? I'm shocked you didn't recognize it.

at some point RPGs start looking the same.  looks like the 'checking into the inn' bit in all of them...

i actually don't play the pokemon games.  i was too old for the pokemon stuff when it was coming out...

(i know, you can never be too old...  i guess i mean i was too old to be subjected to the marketing campaign for pokemon, so i really don't care tongue anathema!!! )  never interested me...

i like SNES RPGs if i'm going to play one anyways wink

i can get it.  you want the other thread deleted now?

(i'll wait until you port everything over).

PM me when you're done and link me to the thread YOU WANT DELETED.  i'll delete it then.

i just don't know which of your threads you would rather keep...

sorry for the problem, its just a rule.  and, i'm the enforcer for this thread it seems tongue

If you are selling or looking for several items at the same time, please post everything in one thread.

sorry.

pick which one you want me to close...  port over whatever you need to.  and, let me know and i'll wrap it up the (soon-to-be) dead one...

it will really help out your potential customers wink  and its the way.

edit - you can edit the title of your thread by editing the first post.

a scientific calculator.  there are a few games that can be played on the nicer texas instruments ones...

not sure what that game is though.  the ti-83 was out when i was in school.  i think that was the one.  there was a drug dealing game for it that i was exceptionally good at...
