no worries!  trying to help out smile

yeah, he prefers the individual end-user of LSDJ to hold the license.  in this way, he will have a way (an email address usually) that he can use when the person inevitably wants to upgrade their ROM, or something like this, and has forgotten their password or somesuch.  i've asked him before different types of public events, where it would be INSANELY easier for me to have pre-purchased licenses, and he just doesn't like to do it hmm  but, understandably based on the way he's running his system, I'm sure it does make it a lot easier.

[email protected] usually works for me, if not just get in touch with me somehow and i'll get you two in touch, won't be an issue.

in short, there are generally two ways any vendor can legit put LSDJ onto someone's cart for them.
1) they validate their username/password to the FTP site (the info you get for 'purchasing the ROM')
2) they validate the purchase confirmation receipt from that purchase, some people simply don't trust other people with their u/p info (which is fair, so this provides an alternative for them)

you've basically just got to make sure the person who has purchased the thing with LSDJ on it has paid for LSDJ at some point (the access is for life, and per person, not per cartridge or copy of LSDJ per cart)

regarding the RAM size stuff, LSDJ is a little unique for a 'game' on this console in that is naturally has a 128k ram file, rather than a 32k file like a typical nintendo product.  LSDJ *will* work with a 32k RAM size, and in the same way you've got the cart set up now with 4 blocks of 32k, but it will disable the file system.  so, each copy of LSDJ gets only one song.

perhaps there are other features disabled with this ram size, i'm actually unsure.

here is a good page on the wiki which mentions this, scroll down to the bottom.  its talking about the minimum requirements of a LSDJ cart: http://littlesounddj.wikia.com/wiki/Backup_Gear

PS -- i wouldn't let the ram size stuff totally bum you out, its just something to be aware of to let the customer know.  its ultimately up to them if that is a pro or con for what they want out of it.  like any product i guess.  this might be a better way for some people, i can imagine the lack of the file system would force a person to be more devoted to the project-at-hand

so, in other words, you can only have four songs total on this cart?  if only a 32K ram size can be read, then you'll be disabling the file system on LSDJ.  which would ideally have a 128k ram size to allow for the file system.

which will mean one song per copy of LSDJ = 4 songs on the cart.

or am i missing something?

you should get in touch with Johan about how you're going about the LSDJ stuff, he really prefers you to not do this way.  the end-user doesn't actually get access this way, which is the point of giving him any money in the first place.  access to the FTP part of his site for the files.

he's very available via email, he's walk you through it.  but, i know for a fact he does not like it being done in this manner

your ram size seems a wee bit tiny for LSDJ usage as well, btw

A does indeed stand for anode!

i'm so absolutely sorry for not having the install docs done yet.  i just can't seem to get ahead enough in life stuff lately to tackle non-immediately-need-to-be-done things!  but will asap

Yeah, that's what happens when there is too much pressure at a certain point (usually the bottom corners), in this case, along the bottom of the lcd.
Something is pushing too hard against that area.

Questions:
Did you remove the foam off the back of the lcd?
Is there anything that you can identify that is there either right where that spot rests in front of or in back of the light panel/lcd?

I think it could be that the wires should go straight out to the sides, rather than resting on the ribbon cable, or that inside the shell case, the corners need to be trimmed down a little to alleviate some undue stress which is occurring.

I removed the foam completely. Also, I cut the notches for the wires to exit at the bottom and go around the sides. I don't think there is much pressure in the area.

i've seen this happening when doing some research on loca a while back (how its applied in different applications), and that website said this type of issue can be due to two things.  poor quality loca which holds poorly, or the loca wasn't actually cured all the way.  or a combo of both I'd suppose

edit - don't remember the website, but the effect totally looks like that.  in their example, it was around all the edges, kind of crystalline looking tbh

I imagine it is one or both of these. I got the cheap loca from amazon I linked above. I cured in the direct sunlight, outside for about 10 min.

i can't imagine 10 minutes in the sunlight is long enough to cure, did the instructions tell you this?  that seems a bit quick.  under UV lamps, perhaps...

ok, right on, i might PM you or email or something and discuss this further smile  but will do some experimenting first

save feature wouldn't work in the prom carts

how big is the save file, btw?

Has anyone attempted to put some kind of anti-reflective material on the front-light? I just modded  one of mine and the screen is hazy, it has bands across it, and the colors are terribly washed out but all of this was expected. I was just hoping the LOCA would alleviate some of it.

ditto above, what type of loca did you use?  this isn't the result you should expect with the advanced install, at all.

Nobody but us gives a fuck about our processes, no matter how many people ask you what your gameboy is doing.

really don't agree with this sentiment.  my interactions at public events over the past 5 years or so don't either.

i find musicians to be very interested in processes, and non-music people to be very concerned with the music itself.  i think musicians understand its up to them to create the music, but ultimately they need to understand the process.

it might seem people are flippant about the process and don't care because they are discussing it all with you because they appreciate your music rather than for technical help?  i just see the polar opposite end of the spectrum because i am never involved as a musician, so maybe there is equal bias in the way we've understood people's interest in this 'thing' with which we are involved

this seems like this

but red

and with some gosh-this-got-old-quick code

and less features

i've seen this happening when doing some research on loca a while back (how its applied in different applications), and that website said this type of issue can be due to two things.  poor quality loca which holds poorly, or the loca wasn't actually cured all the way.  or a combo of both I'd suppose

or the wizard himself: http://derpcart.com/buy.html

corrosion jumps to mind, but

it could be a ton of different things though, all the way back to the CPU.

can you perhaps pan the sound entirely L and R and figure out for sure which channel is out for sure?

i suspect twisting the jack is working because you are pulling it out enough its acting like a mono jack and you are just hearing L.

so, create two different noises/tones/whatever so you can distinguish the channels, then figure out what really happening.

that won't help you fix the problem of course, or really identify *where* its happening, but would at least let you know for sure what the problem actually is.  L is out, R is out, if twisting gets you both then sounds like a jack issue, that sort of thing...

just start a new account and don't use the old one wink  its policy to not do name changes, unless there are extenuating circumstances.  even then we take it to an internal vote to decide if its enough of a reason to make the exception

just to throw it out there, but i've been working on replacement shells for a little while now.  they'll be happening in the KB shop down the road too.  but the more the merrier smile

use a non-hubbed USB port, for starters.  hubs cause all sorts of issues.  plug in directly.  that jumps out at me...
