I have a daughter who turned two in July.  She's actually the reason I got back into chip after a four-year hiatus.  It's risky  playing mandolin or banjo when a baby is sleeping fitfully in the next room.  I needed a way to make music in the evening that was quiet, so I dusted off my Game Boy and haven't looked back.

wow.

OuO

also just want to make it known, that header logo looks like "Lomo Labia"

just fyi

this thread is now about how annoying it is that RCA cables are so prevalent in the audio industry.

you know what? when you wrote that first song, you had no expectations. you weren't trying to achieve anything. you weren't comparing yourself to anything. you had creative freedom.

you need to get back in that mindset.

forget about other artists, other music, who's better than who, heck, forget about quality. just make something that is an expression of what *you* want. if it's not about you, there's no soul. treat your song like an empty canvas, and try to imagine, "if nothing else matters, what do I really want to make?" and then have fun with it.

have you considered uploading to Bandcamp too? I only ask because I'm pretty sure you get a better cut of the revenue with Bandcamp.

Also is this on Spotify? You can upload to Spotify for $13 with Record Union

Sunday was fun. Y'all did a great job as expected. It sucks that I missed some portion of everyone's set. We kept getting stuck in lines everywhere.

You can relive the whole experience again and again, in full high-quality stereo via 3 different cameras:

Saturday [all sets]: http://www.twitch.tv/shiftylook/b/335425885 skip to 48:05 for HEAVYW8BIT CHAMPIONCHIP

Sunday [all sets]: http://www.twitch.tv/shiftylook/b/335554780 skip to 37:45 for ROCKMAN

I don't think sylcmyk's set was recorded tho sad

excellenté

totally forgot to mention, I tried making hip hop but it was like so out of my element, I just had no worthwhile ideas. I also want to learn some jazz theory / techniques so I can make my tracks sound more funky... I especially like stuff like KOAN Sound and I'd like to make some music in that vein, once I learn how.

yo remember that time bit shifter threw a piñata into the crowd and we ripped it apart? that was fun.

maybe this?

last night I dreamt that Nikola Whallon's set was totally awesome. I guess I'm seeing the future in my dreams again.
