I think so too.
Kinda stupid question, but is the lockout chip disabled ? Even if it seems that the MidiNES interprets MIDI in signals that don't exist, it might be worth trying to do so, as we have no clue about what might be dysfunctionning inside the cart. I doubt that it'll work though.

Hi guys, posting here a video footage of our last show.
Our current set-up is drums & electric bass, a sampler which plays Famitracker samples (with a click rooted to my drummer's headphones). I launch some loops with a PR8 (from Neil Baldwin) cart on a Famicom, and I play some melodies and bass lines with a midi keyboard + MidiNES.
In the future I plan to play more and more of the melodies on the hardware, including with a MIDI sampler and the MidiNES.

Sorry for bumping this old thread.
I don't have much experience in modding, I only did a stereo mod on a PAL NES.
I'm going to buy too a Famicom AV, but since the audio and video are mixed I'd like to mod it to get the audio through RCA like the NES mod.
I kinda hardly understood the docs on emu-docs.org, but I can assume safely that there's no real difference between the NES and the Famicom except the shell and the top loader, right ?

I'm glad to see more split releases, I think it's a great idea, but chip and math rock is definitely brillant.
