sending one clock event per tick would probably be easiest

it's easiest now because it's what i've done smile

scannerboy, are you able to build and test the midi-clock branch?

scannerboy wrote:

Dont you think that fixing the midi clock send implementation is a realistic request?

probably - if you can explain what's wrong with it (what it should do, what it currently does) and how to test it, i can take a look over the weekend. i've not used midi in schism ever so you will have to "explain like i'm five"

Also support for OPL3 would be awesome smile

i think this would require all new opl code and a new fileformat too (i don't think s3m does opl3?) -plus dos code to play it back on hw. wouldn't hold your breath wink

i'm assuming the reason pulselooper asked is because he didn't feel up to doing it himself smile the oss community tends to forget there are users who aren't developers - just like the chipmusic community forgets there are listeners who aren't creators (oh wait. there aren't. ha ha)

that isn't an outlandish request! i think for the moment we are likely to be just sticking to maintenance and small fixes, because we are both pretty unfamiliar with the schism codebase, and it is massive, so making it bigger is not top of the agenda at the mo'

no harm in dreaming though smile

very good scannerboy
great to know so many people care about schism smile

why not listen to all the people who went to music university who all agree on this one thing instead of constantly misinterpreting wikipedia to try to prove that you are right

you have nothing to lose by admitting you have something to learn here

your constant insistence that you know more than anyone else just blinkers you to learning anything from anyone except for whatever you can find in your wikipedia scramble to prove how clever you are

honestly no one here wants to score any points over you, everyone just wants to help you learn, but you aren't really interested in it sad

most of the chiptune i hear these days is just that there is so much 047 and not enough more interesting ones like J47

iirc ilocan was actually the father of some "pretty big deal" chiptuner. his songs were great and his 8bc persona was very endearing

congratulations on your baby! exciting times

i also changed jobs, and now i sit on my butt squinting at arcane and dated computer systems for 40 hours a week for money, which kind of completely put me off doing the same in my spare time sad

i'm spending a lot more time doing my physical sport hobbies to compensate but it's a shame about not having much time for musicking anymore (n.b. those familiar with my music may disagree)

the wav channel can be used for melodic instruments and is basically like a third and even better pulse channel, so you can do lead+bass+chords across those three simply

well "thousands of other artists" is a bit rich

guy probably thought he was the first because he probably listens to house music and he probably is the first notable one in house music. fact published a quote saying he was probably the first because that's what he said and interviews are mostly about writing down what people say. i might be biased since i actually discovered chiptunes via shirobon's myspace in 2008 but i'm not really sure what we are supposed to be mad at here?

at least you're not all trying to get him expelled from university like last time

using modern devices for chip music kicks ass smile
