I think that a lot of people are underestimating the usefulness of the line out mod. Its usefulness depends on what style of music that you are writing, if you have a lot of periods of silence in your songs, the difference is pretty noticeable in my opinion.

i have a noise gate i use if there is going to be any silence in my stuff.

different methods same effect cool

How do you lot go about this then?

Least noise most bass....... big_smile

never bothered with a prosound.

use a good recording interface.  i have a presonus firebox i'm pretty happy with.

i record though my mixer and eq lightly.

use a good program to record.  audacity is ok but i prefer reaper, after mucking about with both of them i felt that reaper did a better job recording.

most importantly get your levels right!!

do several tests recordings and adjust your levels till you get it right.  then record.

I agree.

I also think it would be a good idea to show the tags of every track in the actual list. That will bring some way of relating to the record (8bc has its likes/views columns).

they are search able in the search bar

enter chipbreak and you'll see saskrotch's song maybe more if more people have used that term

showing all the tags would look horrid.
look at this guy

http://chipmusic.org/harleylikesmusic/m … 10-dubstep
and then look at this
http://chipmusic.org/forest+world/music … ii---nl-23

the first guys tags cover over pretty much the whole song.  the second guy has one.  it'd look horrible to have them next to each other.
if you say well show the first three tags, people will start complaining on how those first three aren't really what thier song is about or putting stupid memes in them.

it will be refined but for right now it is what it is.

And also general usability.

There's nothing wrong with the forums. It has a standard structure.

I think the music sections layout and navigation should be a lot more intuitive, but i guess that's coming. At the first glance I hardly understand what i can do there, and maybe It's partly due to the color scheme. The layout and functions should be clear to anyone within "10 seconds" imo.

A very small specific example (maybe you have planned to change it):
The tag system should be introduced somewhere directly, so people get a sense of what is possible to do and how you navigate. Either by showing the tags in the list, or having tag search in the top search. The tags are only visible at the song page today, and it's a function you don't want to have to search for everytime you need it (if you ever even discovered it).

the tags need to be search able in a search bar.

having a drop down wouldn't work.  people enter their own tags so the list would get to long to manage.  right now their isn't a lot of data, but it will end up in the thousands, eventually

good job + don't go out much + been slowly getting decent gear = where i am now

it helps that i have a friend who has given me some great deals on his old shit as he upgraded.  my sound interface would not be nearly as nice as it is if not for that

this coffee shop in Olympia.  ovenrake called me the day of and asked if i wanted to play.  i decided sure what the heck.

we all got there and found out that the owner had double booked the shop.
narcotics anonymous was having a meeting and we had to wait for them to finish.

as we were wating all these kids with guitars started showing up.

seems the owner had triple booked the space.

i got on and started playing and instantly realized is should have brought my mixer nanovoice was sounding like shit so then in a bit
of a panic i played so nanoloop stuff.  that's when spamtron touched the mixer and it died ending my set.  it was actually the most
graceful exit i think i could have made.

while i can think of so many things i would have done different i don't think i would change anything.  its just to good of a story.
