MIND BLOWN

Would love to hear from some more UK based chiptune artists to see how big the community is!

Please comment your own name/links and post anyone else you know too!

Lets get some connections going!

I was on LSDJ for a few hours the other day and right after I saved my mum decided to unplug me from the mains assuming it would magically switch to batteries (which i didn't have in). After turning it back on I was presented with a similar screen with loads of random notes and instruments that were all errors basically.

I fixed it by going into the save menu and when it asked if i wanted to discard changes I selected yes so it reverted back to the last saved version where everything was present and correct.

I know you're using the demo rather than the full version but I hope this helps.

Whats your email address I'll pop one over?

Keff does this for commission. He's really good too.

Has he got a website? As I've struggled to find any of his work online, that or I'm just not looking in the right places.

I'm currently looking for a pixel/8bit artist to create me a logo for my producing name 'J3wel'.

I'm based in the UK and would like a logo to use on my soundcloud other social sites and for gigs in the near future!
Of course I am willing to pay for this service and I am open to any suggestions regarding the style of the design.

If you're interested please let me know below or PM me!

Awesome thank you!

If you'd like to hear some of my demos at all I'd be happy to send you them!

There's also Comptroller who puts on semi-regular shows in Edinburgh, the 8-Bit Nights crew in Glasgow, and 8 Bit Lounge in Birmingham. B-Type keeps the Sunderland scene going with his Materia Junkies nights. I know gwEm, Matt Nida and Stevens have put on shows in London, but they're very rare indeed.

Thank you very much for getting back to me!

All that information is great!

I'm looking for some help in finding some more chip tune/8bit promoters and record labels in the UK so that in the future when I'm ready to start doing gigs I'll know where to look as I'm a bit lost at the moment.

Currently my list consists of:
CalmDownKidder
Superbyte Festival

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.

It's all a matter of using the right tool for the job.  The wave channel can get an octave lower than the pulse channel, so  your kicks and basses kickier and bassier, but the wave channel also has the most tonal variation possible, so it makes great melodies too.  I usually use sample drums, so my wave channel is taken up by that, with pulse bass and melodies.  Just experiment and have fun with it, you'll find something you like from every channel.

Yeah thats the approach I normally take as the effects you can apply to wave melodies are just huge, but I do see your point.

Cheers

Having been using LSDJ for about a month now I wanted to ask how people layout their songs?

Personally I use pulse for bass and kick drum and then wave for melodies but I've also heard people using the Wave channel for bass notes and Kick drums.

I wanted to know if there was an major difference between these two methods and whether method may be better to use than the other?

I've recently started creating chiptune tracks using LSDJ and a single DMG gameboy. I've been at it about a month now and I know I have a lot more to learn but the tracks on my bandcamp are the ones that are complete.

http://j3wel.bandcamp.com

Each track has been recorded directly from my gameboy using audacity purely for the purpose of creating demos.

I'm very open to any constructive criticism/opinions anyone may have about them.

I look forward to reading any responses and I hope you enjoy listening
