You *might* be able to do something similar using a PCB from kitsch-bent.

PROM cart won't fit a standard case without some modification. I recall seeing a project (maybe even somewher on CMO) with custom carts in standard shells made by cutting the pins of the PROM short so that they didn't protrude past the other side of the PCB and thus had a lower profile overall.

Would adding a ground off of the volume pot help?

Almost certainly, and you should add it anyway because it's needed. Audio signals are voltages relative to ground. Without a ground conductor, your prosound mod is not heaps pro.

Adding a cap between Vcc and ground should help too. From memory I've used 220uF in the past.

I do not think gamergate is relevant to the scene and I do not think this is the proper fourm to discuss it on.

Agreed.

This thread made me think of a handy article I read on the topic, and lo, the googles provide;

Seems like sound advice. The only time custom electronics of mine have travelled internationally, they went as carry-on luggage from Australia to the US and back with no problems.

Derp.

It does not suck.

That did the trick, thanks MaxDolensky! All carts working happily now.

Same behaviour when using the nanoloop MIDI adapter as well. tongue

Hi all,

I've been trying out mGB 1.3.3 with a homemade Teensyboy on Game Boy Color. Have tried on three different carts; Drag'n'Derp, as an extra ROM on nanoloop one, and on an EPROM cart.

It works perfectly well on the Derp. On the other carts, program changes and CC work, notes *seem* to get through (the indicator flashes above the appropriate channel), but there's no sound.

Has anyone encountered similar problems? I'd like to use one of the non-derp carts if possible.

I'd add a 1/8" jack for the prosound mod and keep the headphone output for headphones. Since you've used the lower profile GBA-SP speaker, you can fit the jack behind that.

Any advice would be really appreciated

This is a terrible idea and you shouldn't do it.

I was wondering if it'd be possible to charge via the DC input jack already built in to the DMG and a USB-to-GameBoy power cable?

It's possible. The DC jack is in parallel with the batteries, so you'd need to cut a trace and rewire the DC jack to whatever charge circuitry you use. I have only done this on a CGB but.
