Yes,  the varia5uit fixes it as long as you don't keep it turned all the way up.  You could also use a small resistor,  like 33 ohm,  in place of the trimmer pot,  I find this works well.

This is a video for the older version of the backlight,  but the points on the pcb are the same... Go to the 4.00 minute mark to see where to solder the power wire and the ground wire:  http://youtu.be/pmE3ztwCvcg

The only difference is that your power wire from the backlight goes to the open lead on the trimmer pot,  and the wire from the trimmer pot goes to the point on the pcb.

Hope this helps.

Trying to sell some little paintings that I made a while back,  and I figured someone here might like/appreciate them.  They are each on a tiny 3"x3" stretched canvas and glow in the dark!  I have them for sale on my eBay page:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/gooogler/m.html … amp;_from=

They are simple, minimal,  pixelated objects like eels,  jellyfish,  supernovas,  atoms,  and televisions.  Only $9.99 for a single and $14.99 for a diptych!  (+ shipping).  Need money because I'm poor and trying to start up a circuit bending/modding business smile Please consider helping me out if you can...  I hope you like them!

Check out my other auctions while you're there too!  Nintendo stuff,  circuit bent stuff,  korg stuff,  etc... Thanks!

Sorry to bump this thread but the cable i got (agb-005) doesn't work with the adapter that I got(dmg-14).  The plug on the cable has a little extra notch thing that prevents it from fitting in the adapter.  Not sure why I went with the agb-005 over the cgb-003...

The cgb-003 cable doesn't have this notch but will it fit into a GBA (agb-001)?

E.s.c.,  do you have a link to the type of cable you are using?

Thanks

Ok.... We'll see when i can get around to it...

Yeah,  that would probably work,  it depends on the color,  I think.  Experiment with different resistors if you have them....I just got a bunch of 33 ohm resistors,  so I might try one of those.  If you want one let me know and I'll mail you one! smile

I've installed a red V5,  an inverted green V5 and an inverted white V5.  There were not any trim pots included,  but I proceeded anyways.  I am having the exact same issue with each one... The lower left corner of the gameboy gets noticably warm after about 5 minutes.  I think the backlight is drawing too much power.  I just finished installing an inverted green V5 backlight with the trimpot,  and I am not having the problem since I have the light dimmed down a little.

I'm concerned this might be bad for the gameboy...I may go back in and add some trim pots,  or maybe just a small resistor.

No,  unfortunately I did not document the bend.  sad This was my first time bending a Casio,  so if I could do it then,  I'm sure you can too!  I spent a lot of time looking for the bends as I waited for the parts to arrive from China...  I know you can mute every drum sound.  There is a section on the pcb for each drum sound.  Just poke around till you find stuff!  I actually found too many bends and didn't have enough room for them all!

I recently bought a V5 from Nonfinite.  For whatever reason he only had inverted,  but he did include a spare polarizing screen because he knew I wanted it non-inverted.

I figured I was supposed to peel off the already affixed, inverted polarizer but I didn't want to f%#$ it up so I just left it as inverted.   (I think you should be able to peel off the polarizer and your diffusion material should remain just fine,  you would just need a new polarizing screen).

So long story short,  I have an extra polarizing screen.  I might put it up for sale on eBay for a couple bucks.  Places sell them too... Check out a few of my faves:  ASMRetro,  Nonfinite,  or Kitschbent!   They all sell these polarizer screens.

Well yes,  I was using craigslist before I started selling on eBay.  I sold one or two DMG's here in Milwaukee,  but I've since had to increase the prices a little because eBay and Paypal both get a cut...  and my craftsmanship has gotten better too.  smile

Say,  I'm sort of new to chiptune (less than a year) and I've been wondering if there is much of a scene here in Milwaukee?  I'm just starting to try and get serious about chiptune and I'd like to eventually play live if I can get good enough...  I hear MELT hosts chiptune artists sometimes,  but I am in the process of investigating that lead...have you ever played live or been to a chiptune show in Milwaukee?

Edit:  ok,  I'm doing a little homework now... Basically searching "milwaukee" on this site... Sounds like I've been missing some awesome shows!!!

I'm such a noob,  really... Just bear w/me! hmm

Thanks for looking!

Thanks,  Adil... You gave me hope when all was lost smile

I had taken the screws out but I think the q-tip was not letting me get aggressive enough... I went to the store and got some heavy duty paper towels.  After rubbing the screen with the paper towel and alcohol,  the glue has softened enough for me to start removing it with my fingers.  It's slow going,  but it's working!  Thanks again.

I was working on adding a backlight to a DMG but after pulling the polarizing/reflective sticker off the back of the screen there is gunk left all over the glass. Usually there is only a little and you just rub it off with your finger,   But this is covering 95% of the screen.  It would look terrible with the backlight.

I tried rubbing it off with my fingers,  I tried using Q-tips with rubbing alcohol and then Goo-Gone too,  but nothing is working to get this stuff off of the glass!

I think I'm going to have to toss it unless anyone here knows of any way to get that stuff off?

:(

Hello,  i joined not too long ago,  but never really introduced myself.  Name's RJL here but I'm still trying to think of a cool chiptune alias.  I also have yet to add an avatar :( it's not working on my iPad for some reason.

I live in Milwaukee,  WI and I'm 33 years old... Like many of you,   I grew up with the sounds of videogames and so the sounds of LSDJ fill me with a certain nostalgia for those happy,  carefree days of youth!

Anyways,  I am fairly new to making chiptune so I came here to ask questions and get caught up with the current scene.  I use LSDJ and Nanoloop 1 & 2.  Still learning....I also have the Gameboy Camera,  and I am really hoping to get Pixelh8's Music Tech cart very soon. Oh yeah,  I have Cynthcart and an old C64 too!  Ideally I would like to create some cool songs and possibly do some busking this summer with a few Gameboys and some effects.

I'm also really into DIY electronics and circuit bending.  I love modifying DMG's.  I started learning electronics a little over a year ago and now it's one of my passions.  I make more stuff than I can use so I sell stuff on eBay a lot... DMG's,  circuit bent stuff,  etc.  my eBay name is "Gooogler"  (w/3 o's) if you want to check it out!
