Questions - will we ever see PCM, DAC or PWM support? What about usage with the 32X in the future and its 4 extra PCM channels? Does the cart play nice with the MegaCD (with 8 PCM channels) Cart Boot mode? Some of those extra channels would add tons of new textures and obviously expand on the MD sound.
I've updated the FAQ in the OP.
---------------
10) Does the GenMDM support DAC on channel 6 of the YM2612?
Yes, but only in a somewhat limited capacity - a series of percussion / drum samples come pre-loaded on the GenMDM.
---------------
12) Will the GenMDM support SEGA 32X sound control in the future?
Most likely not - not in the near future, at least, and not with the current SEGA-side firmware.
---------------
13) Will the GenMDM support SEGA CD / SEGA MEGA CD sound control in the future?
Most likely not - not in the near future, at least, and not with the current SEGA-side firmware.
I picked one up at Blip Australia, at Seb's workshop. I don't know if it'll help 'advertise' the product, but here is my first track:

Fingers crossed for the DefleMask collab
@abortifacient, that track is awesome.
Thanks Sam. Made possible with such an awesome interface. Love it.

This might be a bit off topic but were you talking about PWM on the PSG? I haven't been able to find much information about that at all. I thought it was a bit of a complex hack. Do you have any groovy links?
I have some groovy friends in the Sonic hacking scene who are working on finishing up a library for better Sega CD development. One of them happens to be my roommate at Uni. And yes, PWM is a nightmare but totally possible. Currently we are designing a new and more-complex SMPS driver that will function under Cart Boot mode for the Sega CD. It's heavy stuff.
Little Scale can you please make Philips SAA 1099 PC MIDI soundcard or best SEGA MEGADRIVE expansion???
(and DELEK should to do DEFLEMASK)

Here are datasheets:

SEGA got SN PSG and it sounds not very good. SAA is very good PSG soundchip (6channels).
And you can still buy SAA in IC shops for 10$...
Hey man, let's not shit on the SN76489 because I reckon it sounds great
BUT, Tinctu, have you seem this: http://little-scale.blogspot.com.au/201 -1099.html
If you like, I am happy to release source code / schematics and also perhaps get a few PCBs made or something? I've been meaning to do so anyways, and I think it could be fun...
6 channels for chords sounds phat as.
Send me "source code / schematics" and EagleCAD stuff... I will do PCBs here in EU (postage).
I will do standalone universal MIDI card... Small series (max 4 - 8 pieces for my own composing).

One thing I'm not sure of after reading through the thread... will this function as a class-compliant MIDI device, or will it need additional software? This will function as a class-compliant MIDI device on Windows and Mac OS X as well as Linux I believe. I have not tested it on Linux.
If it's Teensy based, then yes; it will work fine on Linux.

Offtopic, but I'd buy a PCB for sure. BACK TO SEGA

Did you ever test the nanoloop midi dongle with it?
told akira already, but tested mgb using nlmidi & kenton usb midi host, handled well... seems it should make a good solution for those who want to use this with more traditional midi hardware (or piggy tracker and a gp2x )
