so between this article:

http://blog.gg8.se/wordpress/2012/03/04 … d-palette/

and using a super gameboy, I realized what I could do to the rom. When using the super gameboy I would change all of the colors to only black and white, to make the image sharper.

What I did was use the binary that nitro listed, and flipped the values to the extremes.since 11 is lightest and 00 is darkest, I was able to use 11 11 00 00 (FO) to make a normal looking and more crisp image of LSDJ's screen on my dmg. The greyscale is cool but I honestly like it better
this way. also you can flip those values to make an inverted and black and white image.

anyway the results

Interesting. Very minimalistic.

I like that a lot better!

It'd be nice if it could just be included as one of the styles on LSDJ.

I do something similar but different to "clean-up" LSDJ's graphics with my LSDJ+ patches.

http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/4916/ … atch-more/

Most of you have probably already heard this before but I'll say it again just in case,

If you want something extra special/custom all you need to do is ask politely, my services are free of charge for "good" requests.

Serious requests only, please.

These custom fonts more or less clutter the interface more for me. I don't like them; I stick with the Kiko or the default fonts on LSDJ, as they're plain, simple and to-the-point, of decorative flourishes or other things.
I'd stick with the already-posted b&w rom, looking nice! It'll e good for low-light situations and times when perhaps someone's using it on their big TV with an sgb and snes. I can see plenty of practical uses!

SurfaceDragon, you just can't stop plugging your rom thing, can't ya? tongue

Edit: I didn't read all the way down the thread you linked to, I like how you crisped up the default fonts and took off those faint edges, looks neat! Although the clunky decorative fonts detract from it; they almost cancel each other out!

Would there be interest in a tutorial for this? Maybe even a video?

12ianma - I think you may be loosing some functionality by removing every shade of grey.(try panning left or right at the instrument screen)

I would recommend using my MN_LSDJ+ patch(with standard LSDJ fonts) to "clean-up" the graphics within LSDJ.

What version do you use?

The two occurrences of the 00 are for that reason. of you use 11 11 11 00 some stuff is missing. test it out for yourself, you will see. It is really nice. I replaced the 2 darkest grays with the darkest. And the two lightest shades with white.

I want to make a video for dummies format. that'd be cool if you would.

I am working on patching a patched Little FM rom with this now.

can send a patch to anyone who wants one. I can send a patch for black and white (norm or inverted) 3.9.9 or Little FM version 4.0.5 (inv or norm) the version with little fm also has that menu in black and white.
