I miss it when MySpace was cool.
As in, when it didn't try and copy Facebook, when it didn't try and have it's own "scene" (I left around the time Ollie Sykes was CONSTANTLY on the front page...) and didn't have shitloads of ads.
I miss old MySpace.

I do have a music one, but I never use it. I have a Facebook page to talk to people, and a Bandcamp to show people my music.

Mine is much more compact than that. I got rid of the MySpace player in favour of Bandcamp players.

Nice, bandcamp player have less bug than the myspace one too, not a bad idea at all.

I noticed that, seems much more intuitive. The layout is good too because you get a big album cover to associate with the audio.

You mean when they launched and just copied friendster without the taxing code of the 5 degrees of separation feature?
Myspace was never cool, it was just the only site able to handle the load because of lack of features and gross fundage.

My recent experience with myspace is that, due to the lack of customization now, and the shitty HAVE TO HAVE layout they use, I myself don't even go on it. My bands myspace was getting something like 100-200 song plays a day, and now it gets maybe 15?

Facebook + RootMusic seems to be the best deal out there.

More people now than ever use facebook, RootMusic adds a tab to your band page, and gives you a http://listen.to/yourband link so that you can link directly to your rootmusic tab.

Ha, great! thumbs up for that tip big_smile it's what myspace should have become all along.

I skipped Myspace because I wasn't making music when it was "in." Not to steer too far off topic, but nobody happens upon my Facebook or Bandcamp pages, so the aren't very useful to me, which is a polite way of saying I think they are a pain in the ass waste of time. For contrast, entries in my main (Wordpress-based) blog, Twitter, Soundcloud, and YouTube result in actual looks and reactions, so those get the most attention from me.

The way to do it, is to share your bandpage, on your personal wall. And people like me would share it again on my wall. My friends will look because they trust my taste in music, they "like" you, and even if they dont share you on their wall, it still says "This Girl likes chunter"

Its extremely resource heavy for one. And I am on a not top end laptop like most of the US.

2.3 GHz and 1.2 GBs of Ram, and my browser freezes up everytime. A website that can do that, isnt a website i want to go to.

My personal FB account is for family and friends that won't look at my Twitter account, and its status updates are worded accordingly.  It is read by people that already know about my music, and it is deliberately not readable by anyone else, so perhaps that's that...  I didn't open my FB account with the intention of meeting people, that's what forums are for wink
