ive not seen reference to the same brand of sampler for the atari ST, and it came bundled with an amiga. Im certain it is indeed an amiga one.
By Octamed 1 I dont mean MED but a 1.x version of Octamed (came free on a coverdisk amiga format, "92 era)
Haha yes it can be confusing. Its taken me three years of indifferent fiddling to get where I am! But now have the bug.
See I hear this Octamed vs Protracker debate a lot. Why is Octamed obviously superior? Other than that amazing Arexx breakcore coding shit Ive seen from you (tutorial! Thats was incredible!)

Is there any simple way (without more hardware) to determine if the serial port or parrallell port on my Mig is working?
Whenever I try to use the megamix master sampler in protracker 3, octamed 1 or technosound turbo, all I get is a huge clipped square / pulse in the record bin. (but then im unsure on how to use them; presumably Sampler>Sample (in protracker) should be doing the trick?)
Ive been told it is actually possible to fry the two ports by plugging the other type into the wrong port (ie serial into parrallel)
This is annoying as id read somewhere the sampler was a parrallel port one despite me presuming it would be serial. Urggh. Hesitant to buy more hardware now if its possibly the ports :s

i presume this is using ide to compact flash. I hadnt realised you didnt need the drivers that way, and was opting for the easier PCMCIA method. I just need a male to male ide adapter and I should be good to go in that case. Thanks TSC
I love your Amiga music by the way!

is it possible i've fried the sampler or one of the ports by either it being a serial one and me sticking it in the parrallel port or vice versa?

Im happy using trackers, and extremely familiar with (DAW's and) music technology terms however not so much Amiga computers.
I first had problems figuring out (in protracker 2.3d in winUAE) how, after loading up protracker, to load some samples from my windows hard drive on a virtual drive in the emulator.. or, anything other than floppy images.
Apparently using winUAE is by far the easiest method, and id love to just convert some breaks to iff and load them in under emulation whilst im learning, but despite finding numerous similar questions on forums, cant find an answer i can follow)
Then I aquired a protracker 3 floppy, along with a megamix master parrallel port sampler. however I managed to load only a module included on the same disk. I cant determine whether the sampler is even working or not (in protracker and techno sound turbo).
Theres got to be some vague guides to starting out with protracker hasn't there? Or a widely reccomended idiots guide to emulating the Amigas
To be honest im not sure if its infamiliarity with the tracker (and winUAE) or just with the Amiga way of doing things. (Im using PT 3.10b but will be onto 2.3d when I get mah transfer technique sorted, im guessing most the stuff will apply to both.)
Any help or pointers appreciated.
