Dev boards have been received. This makes firmware development 5x easier!

Let's be real it's probably a games tablet for kids. Pico 2

IIRC, you don't actually need to modify the arduinoboy at all. It's been a while, but I seem to remember being able to use a dual ended link cable, one end plugged into a GBA and one end into a DMG, both running mGB, and both would receive notes. I did not try with the modified midi channel rom though.

Hackaday has an interesting writeup about a GBA emulator console based on the pi zero.

Most notably, he made a full replacement motherboard. It's not perfect because many parts must be harvested from a real GBA, but it's pretty good.

I wonder, is this a feasible piggy machine? Would it be worth it to produce some of his boards?

FWIW, you can get a cart from infinite nes lives with PR8 on it. It's not a flash cart, but it will run it just fine and it's not like Neil is going to release a new version anytime soon.

sure. Email me: bro at catskull dot net

You can, but you probably shouldn't. The EZ Flash can't boot non-gba games, so you have to use an emulator (Goomba Color). Audio is okay, but not great. Basically you need separate flash carts for GB and GBA stuff.

Also there is no nanoloop rom available for download, so you'll need to buy a real nanoloop cart to use it.

I just checked over the arduinoboy code and I don't see anything that would restrict the pitch range. The problem must lay in mGB. I also checked over the mGB code but I don't understand assembly enough to make heads or tails of what's going on.

I still need to actually set this up and try to replicate the issue. I believe that it's happening and it doesn't seem like it should be.

For your setup, I would not recommend overclocking. You would have to enable/disable the overclock real time and even if you made that work, there's a pretty decent possibility it could crash the gameboy. If I'm wrong, someone please tell me.

Or use a real midi synth.

Actually that's a good question. Does anyone have a recommendation for an 8-bit hardware synth? I've seen novelty arduino based projects, are there any that people would recommend?

Decided to keep the GBA.

Cool! These kind of things are always so fun to play with. I like gradual decline more though.

Awesome!

Updated post. Still have the backlit GBA. Nobody wants it? Think of the nanoloops!
