Thanks guys, productivity here we come!

If you don't mind stuff with rhythmic elements, Astropilot is fun. Some of Shpongle's softer stuff will probably fit in, too. If you haven't already, grab Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works vol. 2, it's kinda essential listening imo. Going with a very broad definition on "ambient" here, though! :V

Also: here's a (SHAMELESS PLUG FOR A) thing I did a while back. It goes through a few dynamic phases and touches upon the chaotic aspect later on. You might like it?

Rad song title because I am a crazy bible person. Enjoying the sounds too.

While pixelling I like listening to slow ambient stuff. Right now I'm on a strict 4-5 hour-per-day MS Paint regimen, and my Brian Eno, Vangelis, and Tim Hecker playlist is wearing thin. So, I'm on the prowl for new stuff. I prefer pretty with a hint of weird or chaotic, and I loooove Moog and Mellotron. Any suggestions?

Looks like MAGFest is the winner. Blip sounds incredible, but I'm going to know wayyyy more folks over at MAG. Plus, I have more time to save up. Thanks guys. smile

I remember uploading my old 2007 album 'The Old Testament' and people really really liking it. That was nice.

I also remember engaging in a crappy regrettable religion argument with minusbaby. I think it was him anyway. Glad it's gone. :B

...which would it be?

I ask because I make 8.5 dollars an hour and my car sucks, so I could really only risk once a year. I'm in Florida, so for now MAGFest is looking like a really good all-around event that would be worth the trip. Thoughts?

I wasn't alive for most of the 80's (b. 1987...) but I have a weird sense of nostalgia for 80s culture. I think it had a lot to do with being raised in a not-very-wealthy family so we were always behind the tech curve by 5ish years. Got a NES when the SNES came out, etc. We still don't have cable or broadband here. (thank God for friendly neighbors...)

well ive been listening to this obscure chiptunes name DEVO, pretty good, weird vocals but good

I love it. I'm also insanely jealous that this is not something I made.

I'm interested. Which charities are you looking at?

A+++++++

This was seriously pretty rad. Especially when put up against most of the other media coverage we've seen.

Not being a jerk here, but I honestly don't see the value in what you're doing.

a. Nobody worth their salt is going to want to be on your label if you can't offer them anything. Some kind of defined listener base (that actually exists) at the very least.

b. Blogs need to be interesting. Yours has zero original content.

You half admitted it already, but this just seems to be an attempt at achieving fame without putting forth any effort. Like I said, I'm not trying to be a butt hole, so I'll offer some tangible practical tips:

Label:
- Select one or two specific styles/subgenres that your artists should fall under. You want people to know what to expect.
- Work for your artists! Push their stuff all over the internet, write press releases, put stuff on Youtube, etc.

Blog:
- Write reviews.
- Interview folks
- Articles about the state of the scene as a whole
- Articles about tech

If you aren't willing to do any of that just stop now and stop wasting your time.

what's the point? you're not actually writing words or anything

Yeah, this is kind of what I was thinking. I could just as easily find this stuff on Chipmusic or some other community site. You need some fresh editorial content or something to set this apart.

really hard: 3-5
as a result of the 'rock game': probably hundreds
