Knowing you, Zef, you will like Fez.

By my logic I probably won't like Fez since it is actually the complete reversal of my being.

Whoever gets it gets a cookie... y'know the digital kind.

The problem of Double clicking A giving you one of these patterns is now null and void though since LSDJ is smart enough not to now big_smile

The album art is kind of keeping me away from it to be honest.

man I've been playing this new game called lsdj

so much grinding

Totes worth it once you level up. Plus it's one of the only games that pays YOU micro-transaction fees once you get good at it big_smile

Sometimes I wish it had an "Easy" difficulty level though haha.

Agreed, put it on bandcamp, it's the standard now.

00 / 00 is K-00 G-00, with a couple phrases at the bottom filled with instruments saved in them to keep them from being cleaned.

Ahh, I should try NightSky too, Within a Dark Forest was great too big_smile

I've been interested in Fez for a long time, I'm just waiting out for it to be available on PC; nice analogy for the alley, that made me laugh.

Tribes looks awesome and the Cave Story recommendation was spot on, I played it two years ago and absolutely loved it!

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming!

Okay guys, for being a forum about music created with video-game consoles of all things there's far too little discussion about gaming going on.

I'm going to be getting a bit bored this summer and I need something to pass the time; recommend to me your favourite game that roughly lines up with one of these specs;

Preferably a super fun online mode
First person shooter OR addictive puzzle-sort game
Under $50,
preferably on Steam or Desura or something
Must be available on PC

Some old games I like are

Team Fortress 2
Battlefield 2142
Portal 2
Braid
Zuma

So guys, what are you playing lately? Go hard.

Less than a week until the listening party and release!

LISTENING PARTY!!!

lol, I don't know if that's what it actually looks like when you max it out, but it certainly should be!

He's only one guy, but he's the best in the biz! I can personally vouch for his reliability. Just wait, it'll come yet.

Is that what you're talking about?

What you want to do is make a pulse instrument and change the Vib. type from HF to a squiggly sine wave, this slows down all pitch functions on that instrument a lot. Then go and place a low note and Use a P-01 command and it'll bend up super slow.

If you want it to gate and cut in and out like mine without interrupting the pitch bend use O commands with to mute and unmute the channel, or just put it on a table with

O-LR G-00
O-(greyed out LR)
H-00

And change the groove to something that fits the timing you want. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

@ VCMG, I'm surprised you haven't used the slow pitch bends yet, they give you a lot more control! That should open up a few cool new tricks for you.

Yeah, I think that's the curse in the blessing of having such specific control over every nuance of every note; it's pretty much unique among chipmusic, and it allows us to be waaaaaay to much of perfectionists.

In what way is it unique?

It was obviously a generalization, but in traditional composition the writer doesn't have precise control over individual vibrato on each individual violin, or the exact timing and degree of volume swells which will be replicated EVERY time the piece is played (of course you could play a piece on guitar and do bends and slides exactly as you like, but you can't plot it out and do it exactly the same every time). Even in other forms of electronic music (which play back the same every time) it is much more difficult to manipulate most VST plugins with a different envelope or vibrato on each and every note; or change the length of a legato slide on each note. I suppose I should say "Trackers" rather than chipmusic, but I do find that trackers give control that is mostly unprecedented elsewhere. I haven't written a thesis on this or anything so I'm open to discussion though, anyone want to contest that ^?

Me too.  I focus on every little detail.  It's a bit painful sometimes.  I wouldn't mind being a breezier composer...
