Blackout May 17th!

Hello! Zef here! I've been working hard on this 6 track album (Blackout) for the last year and it's almost ready. It's release is slated for Thursday May 17th directly following a listening party over at Noisechannel on areciboradio.com, but I know some of you can't wait that long; so:

Promotions! Doing any one (or many) of the below will get you a pre-release copy of the digital album (INCLUDING ALL SAVE FILES).

1. Draw or design some totally awesome art for Zef (concept art/T-shirt Designs, etc) here's a copy of my logo if you want to use it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33500021/Zef-Logo.jpg

2. Do a music video for one of my songs (simple and/or easy is fine)

3. Blog post about the album (and mention my facebook page)

...Other silly yet still completely viable options

1. Upload a video to youtube of you headbanging, rocking out, dancing with bananas, or just generally being ridiculous (but not crude) with my music in the background. Bonus points if the videos contain garden gnomes and or unicorns and or real corns.

2.  Write an elaborate Sonnet or other huge freaking poem about Zef.

Spread this around, and get pumped for May 17th!
2 Weeks to go! Be creative.

Peace Out, I'm excited to see what you can do!
Zef

^ I'd do this if that works; but if not; might you be able to skip the whole "pan every instrument to the left with O commands" by simply panning the entire channel to the left (B + Left on the song screen)? That would save time. This is cool by the way; but honestly I'll just stick with my pro-sound DMG, it's got low enough noise.

You'll get more interest if you post pics y'know :]

That can't be right *googly eyes* to this point I've made Bandcamp a grand total of $0 dollars and they gave me the power-up; I asked for the ability to upload saves and mentioned the precedent and they got it to me the next day. That's strange.

Haha yup, coming in probably in two weeks time, don't worry you won't miss it smile

It's not really about what you use, so much as how you use it.

Zef, if I was able to organize it, would you be able to come out to Calgary to play a chip show?

Depends on a lot of things; venue, reach, etc.

I wouldn't come out for a bar show or anything that small scale but if you get something decent organized I'd consider making the trip out yup.

Check out Danimal's stuff for sure; I've done a bit, but nothing too specific. G and H commands are your friend.

This is so great!

Other than a link cable, no.  Use another instrument and overdub?

However, those 4 channels are PLENTY once you learn to unlock their potential.

THIS!
I don't think I would even know what to do with 2XLSDJ, my songs would muddy up ridiculously quick!

1. How long have you been making chiptunes?
- 2 years this June

2. What inspired you to begin creating your own music?
- I've been composing for years, I just enjoy it as a hobby.

3. What do you personally use to produce chiptunes (Hardware and Software)?
- DMG + LSDJ

4. What genre of music (besides chip) inspires you the most?
- Avoiding the whole "chip as a genre" debate, I wouldn't say I get inspired by genres, but I enjoy chamber pop, indie, and that sort of thing

5. What do you know about music theory? Have you ever taken a formal music class?
- I have my Grade 8 piano RCM with an accompanying Grade 2 rudiments in theory, so I know a fair amount of formal theory.

6. What do you reccomend for someone who would like to begin making chiptunes (tutorials, software, hardware, online resources)?
- Grab the ROM for $2 or more and just start learning, there's no method really, you figure it out as you go.

7. Do you perform at any live shows?
- Very few as of yet, but I'd like to do more.
7.a. If so, Where?
- Winnipeg Art Gallery
7.b. What's your motivation to perform live?
- It's a blast and it's a great way to expand your audience... and it's a blast
7.c. What kind of gear do you use at your shows?
DMG + LSDJ, wanna get a Korg Pad though XD
