SID Factory II is a cross-platform music editor for editing SID music that can be played on a Commodore 64. It uses the reSID emulator. The project was started by Thomas Egeskov Petersen (also known as Laxity) with assistance by Jens-Christian Huus and Michel de Bree.

The editor has been compiled for Windows and Mac under GNU General Public License v2.

You can download the editor here.

DeepSID now has a dark theme.

Click the small button near the logo to turn it on.

I have made my own online SID player.

It uses Jürgen Wothke's WebSid emulator and can also play digi tunes. You can browse all of the High Voltage SID Collection #68 with it.

Thanks, I'll add it later together with a new column for DefleMask.

SidTracker 64 has now been added.

I have made a web table that compares music editors on the C64.

http://chordian.net/2018/02/24/comparis … c-editors/

I have had my nose in a ton of music editors, scrutinizing documentation and testing out things in each of them. The table should be fairly accurate. Still, I'm only human so if you find any mistakes, or have a value for one of the very few question marks in it, I'll be happy to update it.

Yesterday I also added DMC 5.0, so now there are 11 editors compared.

Known bugs: I'm aware that the left column is displaced when viewing it with Chrome on Android.

I've published a blog post with a ton of Game Boy Color chipmusic by Thomas Mogensen, a guy usually known for almost a thousand SID tunes on the Commodore 64. The blog post contains music from Jim Henson’s Bear in the Big Blue House, Jay und die Spielzeugdiebe (“Jay the Lion”), unused music for Micro Machines V3, and The Land Before Time. There are also some demo tunes not made for any game.

Hi. JCH of Vibrants. Used to be a C64 composer in the 80's and 90's.

I just made a blog post with all the 3SID tunes found in the High Voltage SID Collection update #66. They have been converted to MP3 files for easy listening since not a lot of SID emulators can currently play them.

It is? Wow, I didn't know that. Shame on me.

EDIT: I added that tidbit of information to the blog post.

If you happen to recognize a C64 musician from the late 80's by the name of Johannes Bjerregaard (who was later a member of Maniacs of Noise) you might be very interested in checking out these 9 + 40 AdLib tunes he made in his own AdLib players on PC in 1991-93. But even if you don't know who that is, it's still worth checking out if you're even remotely interested in AdLib music. It's really amazing stuff.

As quite a belated comment, I recommend CheeseCutter. It's low-level with three tracker columns and relies on hexadecimal input like the old C64 editors back in the day, yet runs on new operating systems in a window. It uses reSID for emulation which is close to the real thing. Both CPU and memory usage is very sensible, and you can save to SID and PRG for use in other SID players and by C64 programmers.

Because of the low-level editing style it can have a daunting learning curve, but there are some nice video tutorials here to help you get going:
