"Plasma Weapon" is a new album by Subterrestrial on Sirona-Records. Something a little bit different, this time out. The album features both dark ambient and lighter, ambient electronica. Very soundscape/soundtrack-ish, as I was channeling my passion for '80s video games and anime, movies like Blade Runner, etc.... for this one. Both chip and non-chip sounds (purists be warned.)

Last.fm also normalizes them so there aren't any wild jumps in volume from one track to another during radio play. In my experience, this sometimes severely distorts low freqs.

I still don't understand why you would encode something at 128 ?!!!!!!!

I believe he stated previously that sites he's using, like Bandcamp stream at 128kbps, regardless of the file's original bit rate. Other sites like Last.fm do this as well and it can be frustrating. It also doesn't help that they're essentially converting from one mp3 to another (at least with Last.fm.)

From what I've read, when building a tesla coil you have to actually manufacture a lot of the parts yourself and cannibalize from other sources. Many of the parts you need will be difficult or impossible to otherwise get ahold of. None the less, it is cool to see and hear someone playing sound through a tesla coil's PCM chip!

In the meantime, you can play around with Airwindows free plug-in Nikola "an attempt to do the sound of an audio Tesla Coil."

But that's a Mac plugin, isn't it...

...This one's online though: http://www.arcattack.com/stce.php

Yes, it is.....

Saw some guy playing guitar through two Tesla Coils at Maker Faire yesterday. Awesome!

I don't understand why Korg doesn't implement midi into these devices.....

Like the Monotron, they're going for pure analog here not analog emulation i.e.- Electribe, Microkorg, M-Audio Venom, etc..... Great keys, but not true analog. Sort of makes for a "game changer," so to speak. By not having MIDI, the ability to save and recall patches, etc.... it forces us back to a time when you had to set up your instrument's parameters each time you used it, which is refreshing for people young enough (myself included) to have never had to do this every time you work on a track.

I was thinking of taking the tracks and releasing this on my label, but it's not fun to pick up someone else's failed comp. I feel like nobody likes you if you do.

I failed to submit to this the first time (and it looks like I didn't miss out on much) but I'd like to try submitting something this time around, if that's acceptable.

Saw this, looks fuggin' cool and I may pick one up if they drop the price like they did with the Monotron, but for now at the projected MSRP I think a better bet may be to splash a few more bucks on an Electribe.

Oddly enough, I seem to get a lot more noise when playing this thing through headphones. When I plug it into my DAW, the noise is so low as to almost not even be noticeable and that's without a noise gate. Then again, I tend to use a lot of reverb with it, which tends to bury the noise anyway.
