Been listening to a lot of dark and atmospheric bass/jungle/breakcore music like Burial, Zomby, Ikonika, Boxcutter, Ital Tek, Joker, Ed Rush & Optical, Black Sun Empire, Noisia, Bong-Ra, Venetian Snares, Enduser, Samiyam, Flying Lotus, Four Tet....

Also been listening to a lot of ambient and downtempo stuff like Carbon Based Lifeforms, Solar Fields, H.U.V.A. Network, Aes Dana, Ephemeral Mists, Thievery Corporation, Nightmares on Wax, Loscil, Julien Neto..... There's always something to listen to!

FUCK YEAH! I think these are the same folks who did that rivet head flash mob video where they're dancing to Dutch Polka.

I made that thread but this thread seems to be more properly titled. I would like to Pass the Mic or Shake Your Rump. I did want So Whatcha Want but seems like Subterrestrial is going for it.

You're welcome to do a version as well! I'm not claiming exclusive rights to it. Besides, it's one of my fave BB songs so the more versions the better! I may do a some what different remix-like version anyway, instead of a direct to chip translation.

I'd like to give So Whatcha Want a try if I can get my act together time. There doesn't appear to be a deadline yet, which is good because it will probably take me a long time to transcribe it, unless someone knows of a midi I could use for reference? I kind of did a half-assed search and didn't find much.

I'm inclined to think it would be best to use EQ, filters and/or compression on whatever you're using to get the bass where you need it to be. You guys use Apple ][s sometimes right? I wonder how that would sound boosted?

Otherwise, if you're looking for all out bass, neither of these are 8-bit but I would none the less recommend;

Novation Bass Station and/or

Moog Minimoog

These are the first things that come to mind when I think of bass hardware.

Been a fan since License To Ill. I am reminded of a photo in the Sounds of Science double CD where all three of them are made up to look like they're old men and walking down the street together. Makes me sad to think that now this will never happen. We still have the music but we'll miss you bro.

I think people dislike witchhouse for the same reason they dislike dubstep; it seems to have "suddenly" become popular and there are a lot of misconceptions about it. I think there are a lot of great producers doing some very interesting music; Balam Acab, LAKE R▲DIO, ✝ DE△D VIRGIN ✝, GuMMy†Be▲R!, etc.... and then there are the folks who paulstretch a Madonna song and call it a "remix". You have this sort of thing in any genre. You take the good with the bad. One does not necessarily negate the other.

I've done a little generative chiptune work. There is Subterrestrial's Map of the Interior World EP. It was originally released on floppy disk label Diskette Etikette Rekords, but has sold out and is now a free download. I also have another generative chiptune track The Polar Openings as Viewed From Space on a net release of mine.

A few others here have dabbled with it. I once wanted to do a compilation, but that came to naught because I had to deal with RL shit then (sorry everyone).

I don't think anyone held it against you man. RL always comes first!

When I'm not making chiptunes I'm making non-chiptunes. When I'm not doing that I listen to other people's tunes, work in a library, try to not get run over while cycling, try not to kill too many of my houseplants, hiking and exploring nature, watch a small selection of my favorite TV shows and movies, eat, sleep, beer snobbery..... I used to be a HUGE OTAKU but I've been quite lax of late. Play video games, but again I've been quite lax.
