I don't want to see any confusion between performers, composers, producers, dj's, and musicians.

What exactly is a musician if not any of these other things you mention?

I suppose if musician meant anything, it's an umbrella term for someone involved with music.

to me musicians are people that play instruments
people who write music for other people or things to perform (computers and such) are composers

I'd prefer things to be more centrally located, but realistically, this venue is nine miles from the heart of Downtown LA and it's incredibly easy to get to either via car or bus. The main promoter of this show lives in the San Gabriel Valley so I'm assuming that's why he tends to book shows out there. It probably also comes down to cost, venue size, and a whole bunch of other bullshit.

I kind of hate the LA mentality of "if something isn't downtown or in Hollywood it's too far away". I live in Norwalk and everything is far away for me because I don't drive. I'd prefer that shows happen in Norwalk or Downey but if I started setting them up people would bitch about how far away it was, even though it's like 14 miles down the 5 from LA.

know the feeling all to well.
With the show i played, it was a little outside of hollywood and still had a pretty decent turn out.
Regardless: the more shows the better.

Glad I'm not the only who thought that.

perhaps it could be "playable" also.. like an MPC.. using the game pad, or using two game pads
one could control the "sound" or effects and the other play the drums

Neil,

if you can fire some kind of clock signal out the controller port 2 i could try to put together somekind of sync device. (stuff I don't understand)..

When drum machine was mentioned, syncing was the first that came to mind. I know it's jumping the gun, but I would heart LOVE heart a sync'd NES with the rig. Especially something that looks like it could be edited on the fly.

Keep it up!

Athelos: You live so close, yet, you're such a mystery.
I've got all the components to do this, I'm just unsure of my soldering capabilities.

Any tips?

Also, in the devrs tutorial, it was stated he used a link cable cut in half. Though a constructing a small board is inevitable, would anyone suggest the female port over the male?(or vice versa)
